There are wines made for the easy, everyday table.

And then there are bottles you choose with a little more intention.

Monogram belongs to the latter. Made patiently on the farm, given its time in the cellar, and kept for the moments that ask for something special.

A little piece of the farm has found its way to Mauritius.

Together with The Lekker Network and Carrick Catalyst, Craig Featherby and our winemaker and viticulturist, Bennie Booysen, recently shared Klein Welmoed at two events in Mauritius.

Bennie poured Foothills and Monogram, telling the story of the wines from where they really begin - here, in the vineyards, the soil and the seasons of our little corner of Stellenbosch.

And this time, we brought home some rather big news.

Klein Welmoed wines are now officially available in Mauritius, with Coin de Mire Agencies appointed as our sole distributor on the island.

From our farm beneath the Helderberg to tables a little further from home.

Stellenbosch to Mauritius. We rather like the sound of that.

Spring never arrives all at once here. It works its way in quietly, until one day you look around and realise the whole place has changed.

There’s something about a long table on the farm.

A chair pulled closer. A bottle opened. Plates passed from hand to hand. Conversation that carries on long after everything has been cleared.

That’s how we like to gather at Klein Welmoed, simply, warmly, and with no rush to be anywhere else.

Come gather with us.

By August, even the sheep seem to know something is shifting.

They still move slowly. They still set their own pace. But the mornings are a little lighter now, and the farm has a different feeling.

Same sheep. Different sky.

There are wines you drink.

And then there are wines you hold for a moment before you do.

Monogram is that kind of wine. Not because it is precious. Because it carries something worth paying attention to, the farm, the season, the craft of the person who made it.

Some glasses are worth the pause.

August is the last of the quiet.

Before the blossoms. Before the visitors. Before the farm fills up with the warmth of the season ahead.

If you have been thinking about a stay on the farm, this is the gentle version. Cold mornings, warm rooms, wine by late afternoon, and the whole place mostly to yourself.

August is the month the farm remembers it is still alive.

Not spring yet. Not quite. But something is shifting. The light stays a little longer. The cold is still sharp but it has lost some of its certainty.

The vines begin to show the first faint signs of what is coming.

We notice. We watch. We wait.

Some wines belong to a season. Our Monogram Shiraz belongs to this one.

To the cold evenings that deserve a proper red. To the dinners that were planned with the right people in mind.

To the bottle that was always going to be this one.

Some tables are remembered long after they've been cleared.

Our Long Table Dinner with Loriane & Lush was one of them. Good food, generous pours, easy conversation, and a table where everyone felt welcome.

On the farm, we like to keep things simple. A long table, honest food, good wine, and plenty of time to enjoy them all.

A small look back at a beautiful evening. Here's to many more shared around the table.
