Fonteintjie Farmstay Guesthouse is at the foot of Teebus and this is where many hikers start to climb. Before heading up Teebus you can ask at Fonteintjie which route is open. At the top of Teebus there is a summit book trunk or steel ammo trunk. Hikers have kept a book, pen, small items, stones and a small first aid kit there. Everyone who makes it to the top signs the book. Take gloves-the trunk gets blistering hot in the sun and freezing in the winter.

The white cross. If you drive towards Teebus village today, you can't miss the large, stark white cross which sits on top of Teebus, erected by Herwin children's home in the early 1960s. In the 1980s the cross needed to be replaced due to Mother nature not being too kind. The second cross is the one you're seeing now. Why a cross? Herwin the children's home wanted a beacon-something visible for miles that reminded travellers, farmers and children that they were not alone in the vast semi desert.

At Fonteintjie Farmstay Guesthouse, you are never far from history. Overlooking the farm stands Teebus - one half of the famous twin koppies. High on the koppie Teebus stands the cross - a landmark of faith, hope and community that has guided travellers for years.

The existence of Teebus and Koffiebus can be attributed to a brief geological event approximately 180 million years ago, wherein molten magma ascended to the earth's surface from depths of hundreds of kilometres, resulting in the formation of narrow dolerite layers. These layers being more resilient than their surroundings formed hardened caps that characterize the typical Karoo landscape feature today.

Fonteintjie Farmstay Guesthouse is nestled near the iconic flat-topped Karoo koppies, Teebus and Koffiebus, situated in close proximity to Steynsburg in the Eastern Cape. These prominent landmarks, located in the Karoo Heartland, are visible from the R390 road between Steynsburg and Hofmeyr, with the R56 road to Middelburg traversing the space between them.
