The producers are confirmed, the glasses are waiting, and this handpicked line-up is filled with hidden gems just waiting to be discovered. 🥂
But here's the thing...

Karoo & Kork isn't only about what's in the glass.
It's about the drive there.
The wide-open Karoo roads.
Discovering a town you may not have visited before.

🌿 DIT IS DIE MAAND OKTOBER…
“die mooiste, mooiste maand!”

More than a century ago, C. Louis Leipoldt wrote of October skies, flowers and the “asvaal ou Karoo” bursting into colour.
And somehow, standing in The Royal garden today, those words still feel right at home. 💚

The days are warmer.
The garden is greener.
The Karoo is waking up.
And this October, our garden is getting ready for a story of its own. 🍷

On 23 & 24 October, it will come alive for Karoo & Kork with w**e being poured, food being shared, old friends meeting, new ones being made, and plenty of stories finding their way around the tables.
But today, on the first day of a new month, we'll simply borrow Leipoldt's words:
“Dit is die maand Oktober,
die mooiste, mooiste maand!” 🌿

🏍️ SOME GUESTS CHECK IN. SOME ARRIVE WITH A RUMBLE.
When you hear the engines rolling into Steytlerville, there’s a good chance another Royal story is about to begin. 😉

Over time, the WAVOLT Adventures group has become more than visitors to The Royal. They have returned, supported us, brought great company and added more than a few memorable chapters to our story.

And after a day spent on the open road, there’s only one thing left to do…
Park the bikes, pull up a chair and enjoy a True Karoo Supper, as only The Royal’s kitchen can prepare. 🍽️

Because some of the best stories from a road trip aren't only made on the road.
They’re made around a table.
Over good food.
With good company. 💚

We have been telling you that something special is coming to The Royal garden this October.

Now we can finally introduce some of the names that will be part of it. 👀🍷

We are incredibly proud to share that both The Royal Steytlerville and Sonop, Steytlerville have received a 2026 Lekke Award from LekkeSlaap.

These awards recognise excellent guest feedback and consistent hosting excellence and that is what makes them so special to us.
The Royal has been Lekke since 2015.
Sonop has been Lekke since 2025.

They were learnt around a kitchen table.

On a farm.
During long conversations over tea.
Or simply by watching the remarkable women who raised us.

Perhaps she taught you to work hard.
To be kind.
To always leave a place better than you found it.

Or maybe she taught you that love is often shown through the little things we do every day.
