“die mooiste, mooiste maand!”

More than a century ago, C. Louis Leipoldt wrote of October skies, flowers and the “asvaal ou Karoo” bursting into colour.
And somehow, standing in The Royal garden today, those words still feel right at home. 💚

The days are warmer.
The garden is greener.
The Karoo is waking up.
And this October, our garden is getting ready for a story of its own. 🍷

On 23 & 24 October, it will come alive for Karoo & Kork with w**e being poured, food being shared, old friends meeting, new ones being made, and plenty of stories finding their way around the tables.
But today, on the first day of a new month, we'll simply borrow Leipoldt's words:
“Dit is die maand Oktober,
die mooiste, mooiste maand!” 🌿

🍷 A FIRST FOR STEYTLERVILLE. A WEEKEND FOR THE KAROO.

Something very special is coming to Steytlerville this October...
For the very first time, Karoo W**e Club will be hosting Karoo & Kork at The Royal Steytlerville, bringing w**e lovers, w**emakers and the unmistakable spirit of the Karoo together for a weekend worth looking forward to.

📅 23 & 24 October 2026
📍 The Royal Steytlerville

Over two days, our garden will come alive with w**e tastings, art work, good food, coffee, locally made leather and handcrafted products and, of course, you can expect to find our famous Royal Burger making an appearance too. 🍔🍷

And this is only the beginning...

As we get closer to October, we will be introducing you to some of the w**e producers, stallholders and people who will be joining us for the weekend.
For us, there's something particularly exciting about seeing an event like this come to our little corner of the Karoo.

Great w**e. Good food. Karoo people. And plenty of new stories waiting to be made.

We can't wait to welcome Karoo & Kork to The Royal. 🤍
