Secluded - but never far from what matters. ๐ŸŒฟ

Tucked away in the Waterberg Bushveld, our Luxury Safari Tents offer a truly secluded getaway - just a short walk from the main Family Lodge shared spaces, yet worlds apart.

No fences. No noise but birdsong and the rustle of the bush waking up around you. This is what an Authentic Experience looks like at Tumbeta Private Game Reserve.

Spotted right outside, next to the pool deck ๐Ÿฆ

This little visitor was caught perched in the trees at Founders Lodge - our newest addition, coming soon to Tumbeta Private Game Reserve.

With bold markings and a constant, restless energy, birds like this spend their days working up and down tree trunks in search of insects - often heard before they're seen, tapping away in the canopy.

Just one of many quiet moments already happening at Founders Lodge.

Every eye on the vehicle was fixed on one spot ๐Ÿ†

On a recent game drive, our guests came across this cheetah sitting quietly beside its kill - watching, waiting, taking stock of its surroundings before settling into feed.

Moments like these are exactly why we keep our drives small and unhurried. No rush, no crowding - just time to sit, watch, and let the sighting unfold naturally.

Sightings like this are never guaranteed - that's what makes them so special when they happen.

A recent stay, a real Tumbeta experience ๐Ÿ†

Every stay at Tumbeta Private Game Reserve includes two game drives a day, out in our open game viewers with an experienced guide by your side. We don't allow private vehicles on the reserve - it's how we protect the integrity of the safari experience for every guest.

Each game viewer seats up to 10 people, and for larger groups, we take out two vehicles so nobody misses a moment in your group.

From golden hour under the trees, to giraffes browsing, buffalo close by, and a cheetah watching quietly from the bush by its prey - this is what a recent group of guests got to experience on a game drive experience.

A rare sighting on the Reserve ๐Ÿ‘€

While out working on the reserve, one of our team members came across this Aardvark - relaxed, unbothered, and going about its business in broad daylight close by.

Aardvarks are notoriously shy and mostly nocturnal, so a sighting like this - especially during the day is a real treat. They're also a great indicator species: their presence (and comfort) in an area often points to a healthy, undisturbed ecosystem with plenty of termites and insects to sustain them.

Moments like these are a quiet reminder of just how much life exists on Tumbeta Private Game Reserve beyond the Big 5 - and why we work hard to protect all of it.

Deep in the heart of the Waterberg lies Tumbeta Family Lodge. Positioned within Tumbeta Private Game Reserve, offering the kind of seclusion and privacy that's hard to find anywhere else.

This drone footage captures just how tucked-away the lodge really is, surrounded by untouched Waterberg wilderness. Despite the sense of remoteness, you're still right in the heart of the action - game drives, wildlife sightings, and the full Big 5 experience are all just moments from your door.

Family Lodge is designed for exclusive-use bookings, giving your group the entire lodge to yourselves - private guide, private game viewer, and the freedom to make the space your own. It's an authentic, family-friendly safari experience built for connection, away from it all.

Nature doesn't waitโ€ฆ

Our trail camera caught this moment perfectly - a vulture colony feeding, until a pair of hyenas moved in and took over the carcass. It's a reminder that even scavengers have competition out here.

The good news?
Even with this kind of natural pressure for a meal, our vulture population remains strong. Our latest nesting survey with Vulpro recorded 12 active nests this year - proof that despite the daily competition for food, our vultures are holding their own.

This is exactly why the work we do with VulPro matters - protecting nesting sites is one thing but understanding the full picture of how our vultures survive day to day is just as important.

Conservation is part of who we are at Tumbeta.

Early in July, we were proud to host Vulpro at Tumbeta Private Game Reserve for their annual vulture nesting survey.

Vultures play a critical role in keeping our ecosystem healthy, and yet they remain one of the most endangered bird species in Africa today.

This year's survey is part of an ongoing partnership - we've worked with VulPro for several years now, actively monitoring and protecting numerous productive nesting sites on the reserve, and we plan to continue this work indefinitely.

The results are in - we're thrilled to say we haven't lost a single nest. 12 active nests were recorded across a 6-hour survey drive, with vultures sitting on eggs. Given the size of the reserve and denser vegetation in some areas, there are likely more we simply couldn't spot. Some pairs have shifted locations since last year, but all remain positively active.

Take a look at what our trail cameras have picked up recently - vultures gathering, feeding, and doing the essential work nature designed them for.

Right of way belongs to the bush. ๐ŸŒฟ

This sable antelope decided the road was the perfect spot for a midday rest - and on a private reserve, that's exactly how it should be. No rush, no traffic, just the rhythm of the wild dictating the pace of the day.

The king of the bush... running. ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿƒ

Buffalos are often called the most dangerous animal in Africa - and this male lion found out exactly why on one of our safari drives.

What makes this even better? The reaction from our guests says it all. ๐Ÿ˜‚

This is the Waterberg bush - unpredictable, unscripted, and utterly unforgettable.
