It was wonderful to welcome a group of young adventurers to our summer Camp. They were participating in Lifesaving skills, River Craft rowing, Bridge Building, Bow and arrow shooting as well as Air Rifle shooting. They all took part in the infamous night march and avoided being chased by the mongoose. They can be commended for their effort during the mountain hike done successfully in 36 degree Celsius heat.
Our winner of the Air Rifle target shooting was none other than SA junior Pistol target shooting champion Roan Hough, while Anchen Vaughn and Mienke Olde Olthoff won the bow and arrow shooting competition. Very well done and may you still have many enjoyable adventures.

Soya adventure is very excited to announce that in conjunction with Rijk Tulbagh School we are hosting a Mountain Trail Hiking trip to the Knysna forests during the March/April holidays in 2015. We are aiming to cover parts of the Outeniqua Hiking Trail and also parts of the Harkerville and Elephant walking routes. We will stay over in the Millwood hut, the Rondebossie hut and also the Diepwalle and possibly the Harkerville hut. This promises to be an unforgettable event. For the initial adventure we have picked 10 young adventurers and will definitely be planning more of these trips soon. If you are interested in joining one of these adventures please get in touch with us so we can discuss dates and timings.

It has been confirmed that our next SOYA camp will take place on 10-12 December 2014. The other exciting news is that we have secured two kayaks for our summer programme. We are looking forward to lifesaving skills in the swimming pool, kayak race across the dam, and all the other activities plus the obvious infamous night march. Just a few days before the start of the fourth term we welcomed a group of avid adventurers at Soya basecamp. They completed the tasks with confidence and enthusiasm, especially navigation and shelter building. They all survived the infamous night march and managed both Mongoose crossings with screams and shouts. The target shooting was won by Simon Basson with 5 out of 6, followed by Anel Kotze with 4 out of 6. Bow and arrow shooting was a tie between Jana Smit and Simon Basson. Well done!

Please take note that the dates has been confirmed for the October Soya Camp and will be from Wednesday 8 October to Friday 10 October 2014.
We are looking forward to a very exciting camp doing the first collective project where all groups will work together in building a bridge over the Boontjies River. This will be done in conjunction with the other modules and of course the infamous night march.

This promises to be another very exciting adventure camp. For any additional information please do not hesitate to contact me.

A number of students from the Grade 4-7 classes of Rijk Tulbagh Private School climbed the Klein Winterhoek - Kleinpoort passage on the 25th of June 2014.

The initial ascend was very hard followed by a moderate climb to bobejaanbos. From there we had a pleasant walk all along the towering cliffs of the range until we got to the final ascent up the narrow passage leading to Kleinpoort.

Everyone did very well, considering that this was a first for many of our students. I would like to extend a word of gratitude to Mnr Jurie Herbst and Mr Ivan Perold together with Juf Susanne, Charne and Robyn and both Tannie Sarieta and Annemie for joining us. Keep exploring until next term.
