The Anchorage Hotel was built and established over 30 years ago by the late Patrick and Doreen Thurst

The Anchorage Hotel is a tranquil destination away from it all, with many facilities which mainly include:

Restaurant and bar;
Children's Play Area;
Swimming Pool;
Camp site & camping facilities;
Deep sea / river fishing fishing;
Hiking trails;

The Anchorage Hotel is one of the finest resorts along the wild coast area which is surrounded by breath taking views of the

Indian Ocean, which is only a few steps from the Hotel and the rich African culture. We promote the well-being of our staff and community and encourage the preservation of the marine ecosystems, wildlife and recycling. We look forward to you joining us for a tranquil rural experience. We don’t boast to be a 5 star resort but we are sincerely efficient in providing you with a rustic holiday and fishing destination.

Finally, after over 140 days of lockdown we are finally opening our doors to the public.

This has been the most difficult time for our establishment and staff, just as it has been for all those in the travel industry! We are truly grateful to have made it through this pandemic thus far.

In light of the current situation, the Anchorage Hotel and many establishments like us, will be closed for the duration of the 21-day quarantine.

URGENT NOTICE:
To all our guests and expected visitors.

The municipal pump providing water supply to the entire Mthatha Mouth area has been damaged. We have since been using our reserve borehole in the interim which has left us severely strained in providing water to the Hotel for the week.

We sincerely apologize to our guests for the unexpected incident. The Municipal Council are working on the problem and should have the problem fixed by Tuesday, 21 January 2020.

We were honored to celebrate a ‘24th’ birthday celebration with Nicole Barkhuizen and family yesterday! Seafood platters were high in demand; it took us a while to bring it all together but all hands on deck made a successful serving! Thank you for your patronage!
