From the poolside deck, guests can watch as elephant bonds are built on the riverbank in front of the lodge.

Every nudge, every shove, every splash in the mud is part of how young elephants learn to trust, communicate & stay close to their family. 🐘

With only around 24,000 lions remaining in the wild, every habitat, pride & ecosystem matters. Behind every lion sighting lies a far bigger conservation story. Protecting lions means protecting their habitat, their prey & the ecological balance they help maintain.

Nestled in front of the lodge, our tranquil lily pond has become a favourite stop for the wildlife that calls Welgevonden home. Day and night, our hidden camera quietly captures these incredible moments as nature unfolds completely unscripted.

Our very first Lily Pond Moment features one of Africa's iconic Big Five... a magnificent rhino enjoying a peaceful drink.

From elephants and leopards to curious antelope and unexpected visitors, you never know what will appear next.
