Cheetah cubs have arrived at Kaingo! 🐆
With help from Ashia Cheetah Conservation and Endangered Wildlife Trust, Kaingo is dedicated to the restoration of the cheetah population in this unique area within the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve.
As part of our ongoing conservation efforts, we’re excited to share that one of our females has recently given birth to a litter of cubs.
The arrival of the cubs is significant for us as well as for the wider collaborative effort to establish a healthy, sustainable cheetah population in the region.
The Cheetah Range Expansion Project helps manage Africa’s cheetah metapopulation through translocations that promote source-sink dynamics and gene flow. Reintroductions re-establishes this charismatic species to its historical range

A true survivor of the South African bush 🐾🇿🇦

Today, April 27th, is International Hyena Day, and we’re celebrating one of Sebatana’s most elusive residents—the brown hyena.

Fun fact: Brown hyenas can travel over 30 km in a single night while foraging, using their incredible sense of smell to locate food across vast distances. Despite their reputation, they are mostly scavengers and play a vital role in keeping the bush clean and balanced.

Shy, intelligent, and rarely seen—they’re one of the bushveld’s best-kept secrets.

We are proud to introduce our brand-new optional excursion, which from January 2026 will replace Pilanesberg National Park:

Echoes of the Past – Hope for Tomorrow
This excursion is designed for guests who want a Big Five safari combined with a journey back to the very beginnings of humankind – in a landscape where people have lived for more than one million years.

Ka’Ingo’s unique environment attracts researchers from several international universities, partly due to its rich archaeological heritage. During the excursion you will therefore visit some of Waterberg’s most remarkable archaeological sites, including Sheep Rock Shelter, featuring beautiful Bushman rock art, stone tools and the iconic fat-tailed sheep painting – a symbol of prosperity and healing – as well as Pride Rock, where all stages of the Stone Age are represented, accompanied by breathtaking views across the landscape that once guided early hunters.

Depending on weather conditions and water levels, the photo safari may also include a wondrous cruise along the Mokolo River, offering a unique view of hippos, crocodiles and other wildlife.

As a meaningful and exclusive insight into present-day South Africa, the excursion also includes a visit to The Fold – a well-run children’s home and school where children from difficult backgrounds grow up in safe, family-oriented surroundings. Here you will not experience poverty, you will rather encounter warmth, stability and meet some of the devoted caregivers who give the children structure, a sense of belonging, and genuine hope for the future.
