Not all wildlife in Waterberg has four legs... 🌿✨

These beautiful red blooms belong to Kalanchoe rotundifolia, a hardy succulent native to Southern Africa. While much of the bush takes on soft winter colours, this plant lights up the rocky hillsides with vibrant shades of coral red ❤️

🐦 Its nectar-rich flowers attract sunbirds and other pollinators.

At first glance it may look delicate, but this is one of the true acrobats of the wetlands around Kamonande 🌿
Thanks to its incredibly long toes, it can walk across floating vegetation as if it’s weightless.

✨ Fun facts:
🔸 Nicknamed the “lily trotter” because it walks on water lilies.
🔸 The males incubate the eggs and take care of the chicks! 👨‍👧‍👦
🔸 When danger appears, the chicks hide safely under dad’s wings 🛡️
