Understanding the veld through research.

We welcomed LEDET officials and specialist consultants to Kaingo for a biomonitoring workshop focused on grass and veld monitoring.

The workshop brought together valuable expertise and practical knowledge, with discussions around vegetation monitoring, data collection and interpretation, and how these can contribute to better understanding and sustainable management of the veld.

It was a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, strengthen connections between conservation practitioners, researchers and land managers, and continue learning from the landscape we work to protect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed their expertise.

A wedding surrounded by the beauty of the Waterberg.

Beneath the branches of a magnificent marula tree, surrounded by the Waterberg wilderness, two people began a new chapter together.

After the ceremony, the couple ventured into the reserve for photographs at Mongoose Pan and Leopard Gorge, while their guests gathered on the expansive lawn at Founders Lodge for cocktails and canapés beneath the trees.

As evening fell, everyone came together beneath the great thatched roof of Founders Lodge for a beautiful celebration, surrounded by the people who made the day special.

A wedding woven into the landscapes of Kaingo, from beginning to end.

Introducing Kaingo’s Mountain Lodge. 🌿

Set within the wilderness of Kaingo Game Reserve, Mountain Lodge overlooks the Mokolo River valley, surrounded by dramatic cliffs, expansive water landscapes and the Waterberg.

An exclusive-use escape for up to eight guests, the lodge features four spacious chalets, generous living areas, a private pool and sweeping outdoor spaces designed for slow days in nature.

Thoughtfully built from natural materials sourced from the area and powered by solar energy, the lodge blends seamlessly into its surroundings. Set within Kaingo’s botanical section, it offers a peaceful setting to enjoy the bush, while the greater Big 5 area is just two minutes away.

Created for time together, space to breathe and a deeper connection with the landscape, Mountain Lodge offers a new way to experience Kaingo. 🐾

Winter mornings at Kaingo bring crisp air, clear views, and a different perspective of the bush. With the leaves thinning out, there’s often better visibility through the trees, while the winter colours give the landscape a completely different feel.

And of course, no winter game drive is complete without a warm coffee stop along the way.

Building connections through research. 🌿

We recently welcomed a delegation from the University of Limpopo to the Kaingo Research Centre for a site visit and planning for future collaboration.

The visit provided an opportunity to explore our research facilities, learn more about the conservation work taking place across Kaingo, and experience the diverse landscapes and biodiversity that make the reserve such a valuable setting for research and learning.

We’re excited about the possibilities ahead and the opportunity to develop meaningful partnerships around collaborative research, student development and knowledge exchange.

Thank you to the University of Limpopo delegation for spending the time with us. We look forward to seeing where the collaboration leads.

A new space has opened at the Kaingo Research Centre. 🌿

Our new Presentation Room provides a welcoming setting for lectures, presentations, workshops and gatherings, with 30 comfortable auditorium-style seats facing a large screen. Natural light fills the room while a collection of African artefacts, including beadwork, woven baskets and wood carvings, adds a sense of place and history.

Generously on long term curation to the Kaingo Research Centre from Dr Mariannne Brindley and Mr Clive Walker, these beautiful pieces bring the room to life and create a small museum-like display alongside the modern presentation space.

We’re excited to welcome researchers, students, guests and groups into this new addition to the Research Centre.

Winter at Kaingo brings its own kind of beauty. The warm winter sun casts a golden glow across the yellow grass and dry bushveld, especially in the early morning and late afternoon.

Cooler days, crisp mornings and spectacular sunrises and sunsets make this a beautiful time to experience the Waterberg.
