It's been a wet winter so far. In the first month we had more rain than the whole of last.
Some indigenous shrub is loosing leaves because of to much water. Breeding season for many is late. We have had many reports of Egyptian geese sitting on rotten eggs.
Usually this time of the year we sit with many goslings, some is still doing the courting dance.
The lack of insects is a bit of a worry. Most birds needs protein for a healthy breeding session .
Flower season started early and usually at this stage you will find plenty of worms. Probably still to cold, but the flowers are spectacular.
Mice and rats Seems to be dormant too in the veld.
I have a feeling that when everyone starts breeding they will all start at the same time instead of the norm.
This is going to be a very interesting season.
Every season is different, from more of a species to less of another.

We have been working non stop preparing for the unexpected, but getting the new centre this far in only a year and a half is surreal and we are ready for anything this season directs our way.

We will be starting to build the extension to the centre soonest, due to ongoing influx.We are already 7 times the size of our old centre and will be 7 times more over the next couple of months.
We have teamed up with the Wildlife Forensic Academy and will be taking in 3 of their students for a practical over 5 months. With many projects planned, I think it save to say that we will keep ourselves busy.
