Baby elephants, called calves, are born weighing around 90–120 kg (200–264 lbs). They boast the longest mammalian gestation of up to 22 months. Amazingly, calves can stand within 20 minutes of birth and walk in an hour, relying heavily on their herd for protection and nannying.

The brown hyena (Parahyaena brunnea) is a rare, predominantly nocturnal scavenger native to Southern Africa. Distinguishable by its shaggy coat, striped legs, and cream-colored neck ruff, it is a highly specialized survivor that relies on an exceptional sense of smell to locate carrion across harsh desert environments.Key Physical & Behavioral TraitsIncredible Bite Force: They possess robust jaws and teeth capable of crushing hard bones to extract nutrient-rich marrow.Foraging Habits: Unlike the larger spotted hyena, brown hyenas are poor hunters and survive primarily by scavenging carcasses, stealing from other predators, and eating rodents, insects, eggs, and desert melons.Social Structure: They live in clans of 4 to 15 individuals but forage alone, traveling up to 15 to 34 miles a night in search of food.
