you know what's underrated? who are we kidding, of course you already know midweek escapes are the best.

it's quieter on the farm, and you come back to work on a Friday feeling like a different person.

the meal kits don’t stop when winter ends. in October, cooking at untether is one of the best things about a stay. it’s warm enough to braai outside in the afternoon and cool enough in the evening to want something slow on the stove. and obviously the pizza oven is a vibe all year round.

our slackpacking options are put together by a professional chef, with high quality locally sourced ingredients. order at least three days ahead of your stay and it’ll all be waiting in your fridge for you to arrive.

not every untether trip is about staying still. the Limietberg Nature Reserve and Bainskloof area are accessible directly from the farm, with trails for every fitness level, natural pools, waterfalls and more fynbos than you can identify in a weekend.

come back muddy. get in the hot tub. argue about who made the best pizza.

spring in the Western Cape is something people don't talk about enough. it's warm enough to sit outside in the afternoon, and cool enough at night to still enjoy a fire in the evening. the fynbos is extraordinary and the farm is at its most alive.

at untether we have six private 2-sleeper pods, each with a braai, pizza oven, indoor fireplace and wood-fired hot tub. completely off-grid, an hour from Cape Town.

a morning sauna is an unforgettable experience. cool air, quiet farm, coffee first if you need it. the wood takes a little while to get going and that’s fine, it’s a slow morning anyway.

by the time the heat builds you’re properly awake. step outside into the October air, still cool enough to feel the contrast. cold plunge if you’re brave. you’ll eat breakfast like you mean it.

"the location was above my expectation. the most stunning view and the pod had everything I needed. the weather turned out cold and wet, but that didn't hold us back from using the hot tub and making use of the complimentary w**e tasting at a nearby w**e farm. overall our stay was exceptional and we will definitely be back in future."

hello to October! the mornings are still crisp, the afternoons are properly warm and the farm is doing something new every day. new colour in the fynbos, new light on the mountains, new energy in the air.

it’s that wonderfully awkward season where you might need sunscreen at midday and a fire going by nightfall. we’re here for all of it.

it usually takes about an hour to settle. then the peace washes over.

time on the farm does something to people. the quiet, the off-grid dark at night, the fact that there’s genuinely nothing you need to do and nowhere you need to be. by the second morning most guests say they’ve slept better than they have in months.
