CapeNature Access Week
CapeNature is marking a significant milestone by celebrating the 10th annual Access Week from 21 – 27 September 2024. During this week, the public is invited to explore 24 selected nature reserves across the Western Cape without any entry fee. This initiative allows visitors to enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as hiking, bird watching, swimming, and mountain biking.
Over the past decade, CapeNature has welcomed tens of thousands of visitors during Access Week, fostering a strong connection between communities and nature. For the 2024 celebration, CapeNature will offer special programmes for diverse community groups, including schools, senior citizens, youth, and non-profit organisations. These programmes are designed to deepen participants' engagement with nature through guided sensory experiences, enhancing their appreciation and understanding of the natural world.
Participating nature reserves include:
WEST COAST: Bird Island, Cederberg Complex (Algeria, Kliphuis, Matjiesrivier), Rocherpan.
WINELANDS: Limietberg (excluding Tweede Tol Picnic Area), Hottentots Holland, Jonkershoek, Vrolijkheid.
OVERBERG: Kogelberg, De Mond, De Hoop, Marloth, Grootvadersbosch, Walker Bay, Geelkrans, Stony Point.
GARDEN ROUTE: Robberg, Keurbooms River, Goukamma, Outeniqua.
KAROO: Swartberg, Gamkaberg, Anysberg.
