Riverside Campsite offers up to 5 campsites with access to electricity and the communal Lapa with a gas burner, double sink wash bay and braai area.

There is one rustic ablution block with two seperate bathrooms with a shower, bath and toilet. Hot water is achieved through a donkey boiler for a hot bath/ shower 🛁 🚿

The campsite is set on a beautiful big green lawn on the banks of the Sterkspruit River on a pecan nut tree farm 💦 🌳

Activities include:
* Birding
* Swimming in the river
* Walking on the farm
* Star Gazing
* Fire pit
* Relaxing

There are so many other amazing activities such as berg hikes and quad bike riding in the Berg that are just a short drive from Riverside 🌳

This is a very special guest review for us. These particular guests were from CT and what an awesome family they were!

“What an awesome place! Us and our kids loved spending time in the river, sliding down rocks, watching for otters and spying fish trying to jump up the falls.

We lay on a blanket under the trees reading, had night time chats around the fire pit and loved meeting their dogs.

Our hosts were so helpful! Giving us local suggestions, sending us load shedding schedules & supplying wood for the fire.

We had easy access to the Central Berg and there is a huge spar in Winterton.

Gas oven and bulb with battery back up helped greatly when load shedding happened.

Personal touches and comfy beds and couches.

We were all sad to leave. And are so happy to have stayed here.

There is MAGIC in switching off from the crazy that is our work life or whatever it is that causes our nervous systems to go into overdrive. Nothing else regulates me like being outdoors. To feel water flowing over my feet, to feel the sun’s rays on my skin, to see birds have a bath in the water, to sip tea slowly and actually taste the goodness, to hear the white noise of the river soothing my anxiety, to smell the earthy smell of soil and river sand. All of these sensory inputs CALMING my nervous system and bringing me back to wholeness. Peace. Safety. Well-being 💛 Love how Riverside Cottage also features in my afternoon Nature Session!

Magic afternoon picnic at “Top Rocks” picnic spot .cottage.winterton 🏡

The chilly, crystal clear river water flowing over our feet; watching the bright yellow Weavers take their afternoon baths before the sun disappears; making mud pies with clay-like river sand; soaking up the last warming rays of sunshine through the trees and basking in the golden glow of dusk ☀️

This is how we regulate our nervous systems!
