The White Bridge area around the Breede River offers a surprisingly rich birdwatching experience.
Our corner of the Witzenberg Valley sits within a landscape shaped by water, fruit orchards, riverine vegetation and the mountains beyond.
The Breede River provides a natural corridor for waterbirds and kingfishers, while the surrounding gardens, orchards and open farmland attract an ever-changing variety of smaller birds, raptors and seasonal visitors.
For keen birders, there is always something worth watching for. You might find a kingfisher along the river, a sunbird moving between flowers, a robin-chat in the undergrowth or a raptor riding the thermals above the mountains.
And you don’t have to go far. White Bridge itself is the birding landscape.
Have a look at our website for a full breakdown of the area's birding.
