This was a big one....

As some of you might know, this past week has been surreal to say the least, on Rivierplaas and the rest of the Breede River Valley. We have been hit by devastating chaos and loss due to the extreme force of the river. I guess to the same extend that we know the river to be such a giving lifeforce, it has now taken in a brutal way.

But through all the darkness and heaviness in our hearts, there is a huge bright silver lining - day by day we are being lifted and carried forward by the love and support from so many people. Making plans for us when our brains turned to survival mode. Offering help in so many ways - rescuing our workers, collecting food, blankets, clothes and distributing it, offering accommodation (for us and our dogs!), offering a car or a lift, offering school uniforms, text books etc, washing our filthy filthy clothes, bringing food, and even just sending us their good thoughts and love and strength. Looking after us in so many ways. Saying yes without a blink. We hope you all know how much you mean to us.

Like my dad said to his friend earlier this week when he asked how he can help: "if you pray, just pray that we don't loose hope". Without hope this will definitely be a losing battle. What is left to restore, will take months or years. But we will get there.
