Planted in the homestead when twins are born, Umhlontlo is a succulent plant that secretes a white liquid when one or both twins are unwell and it is also used for its medicinal properties in aiding the healing of the twins.

We recently had the privilege and honour of hosting the Equality Collective, a community-embedded legal and advocacy organisation based in our community for their team building event, in collaboration with Umpheki Ekuhlaleni. uKungcamla iLima loMbona, is a multisensory food experience by Umpheki, Lipato Shogole, our chef in residency. This is what happens when we bring food, story and creative exploration together.

Halala Tess and Josh, halala! 🎉

We were deeply honoured to host Tess and Josh’s special wedding celebration at Bulungula Lodge this past weekend.

Tess is a longtime member of our community and the founder of the local nonprofit Equality Collective, making this occasion feel especially meaningful, as it brought together so many people who have been part of the Bulungula story over the years.

The weekend was a beautiful gathering of our community and Bulungula family alongside Tess and Josh’s family and friends from near and far. There was dancing, cooking, laughter, incredible food, blue skies, bonfires under the stars, heartfelt speeches, and epic Bulungula Beats party nights.

It was also exciting to see all of our new renovations put straight to work for our biggest event yet... our lodge was filled with joy, connection, LOVE and celebration from beginning to end 🌈

Thank you, Tess and Josh, for choosing to celebrate this milestone with us and for creating memories that will stay with all of us for years to come 🌸❤️
