Kanyemba Lodge strives to provide a haven in which to enjoy the beauty and activities on offer in the Lower Zambezi. Catering for a maximum of 20 guests, the lodge comprises 6 stone and thatch “rondavel” chalets, each with their own large private deck overlooking the Zambezi River, full en-suite bathroom and walk-in wardrobe. In addition we offer a Family Chalet which includes three suites – each
with their own private entrance and en-suite bathrooms, but sharing a large deck area. Stunning en-suite bathrooms include state-of-the-art fittings and bright mirror lighting. Chalets also include walk in wardrobes with shelving, hanging rails, digital safe, and plenty of room for storage. All chalets have 220V electricity (mains with full generator backup), ceiling fans, and spacious canopy mosquito netting. Overlooking the river, the restaurant and bar allow spacious & relaxed dining. Meanwhile upstairs, guests can relax and enjoy the extensive library and lounge with a view across the river – the perfect space to while away the afternoon! Each evening guests are treated to Kanyemba Lodge’s famous cuisine under the branches of a giant wild Mango Tree. With a distinctly Italian influence, our team of chefs will wow your palate at the same time as the “Kanyemba Chorus” of hyena, frogs, and of course the odd lion, will wow your mind. We also have a swimming pool beautifully situated on the banks of the river, with built-in benches that allow a retreat from the hotter hours of the day - whilst sipping a G&T and watching the elephants on the opposite bank. Built of Natural materials, Kanyemba Island Bush Camp's four chalets and restaurant/lounge area follow an innovative style and concept in their simplicity. Extremely respectful of its surroundings and its inhabitants, the camp is set in a mahogany forest often utilised by elephants to cool off in the heat of the day. Not for the faint hearted, and designed to give guests a real wilderness experience, it overlooks a large dambo on the southern side of the Island, prolific in birdlife, and that provides drinking water to a number of animal species. The Bushcamp is for the more adventurous guests who want to experience the proximity of the African bush and its inhabitants, whilst still maintaining the luxurious standards that you would expect at Kanyemba Lodge. The Chalets are very private and secluded, built on stilts; they afford a spectacular view of the surroundings, in all safety. They each have a veranda for outdoor lounging in the shade of the trees. Comfortable beds, solid furniture, and all modern comforts, including state of the art LED lighting and 220V access, ensure your wellbeing is of the highest of standards. All Chalets are connected to our UHF radio network for your safety and for calling your escort to the main area. The bathrooms are an experience of their own. Connected to the verandas by an open walkway, they are “open top”, and offer spectacular views while you shower in hot water, in a perfectly private environment. Meals at the Bushcamp, in Kanyemba style, are of the highest of standards and are served on a deck suspended above the lagoon, with a 180 degree view into the Zambezi landscape to complement the pleasures of the palate.
