Yellow Baboons

It's virtually impossible to visit South Luangwa and leave without seeing a baboon. They can provide some of the most entertaining game-viewing, especially when the youngsters are playing.

They are not confined to the park boundaries, and you might be surprised to hear that they were responsible for 35% of all livestock predation conflicts (Chickens) in Malama Chiefdom last year.

Our Human-Wildlife conflict team assess and help mitigate all conflicts with wildlife. The other main culprits for livestock predation in Malama last year, were hyenas and honey badgers. Conflicts with lion, leopard, snakes and genets were also recorded.
