Eight attendees attended the first bird ringing course to be held on Nampene Island in the Zambesi River, directly after the 15th PAOC held in Victoria Falls. Ancient trees include Baobabs, wild date palms & waterberry trees - under one of which, David Livingstone spent the night, two days prior to his first siting of the mighty Victoria Falls. “Having descended about ten miles, we came to the island of Nampene at the beginning of the rapids, where we were obliged to leave the canoes and proceed along the banks on foot.” Dr David Livingstone
