🦛🐘🦅 Borrowing Space from the Wild at McBrides Camp
One of the greatest privileges of staying at McBrides Camp is the reminder that we are merely visitors in a truly wild place.
It is not unusual for elephants to wander quietly through camp as they browse on the surrounding vegetation, often passing just metres from the chalets on their daily journey along the river. As the sun begins to set, hippos emerge from the Kafue River to graze on the lawns and riverbanks directly in front of camp, creating unforgettable wildlife encounters from the comfort of your chair.
Above us, the sounds of Africa fill the air. The unmistakable call of the African Fish Eagle echoes across the river while kingfishers, bee-eaters, African Finfoots, Pel's Fishing Owls and hundreds of other bird species make McBrides Camp a paradise for bird lovers.
Here, wildlife is not something you drive hours to find. It is all around you. The elephants, hippos and birds have been here long before us, and every day we are privileged to borrow a little space in their wilderness.
