Good morning Big Cave Camp 💛 Sharing the morning sunrise with these amazing Rock Hyraxes, also commonly also known as "Dassies"; are a common sight here at Big Cave Camp, where you'll see many sprinkled across the granite rocks enjoying the sunshine. The Rock Hyrax are a key part of the ecosystem here in Matopos where they live in colonies and are often seen climbing trees, though the rock hyrax tend to stay on the ground or feed from rocks.
This species is the most closely related to the elephant! Like elephants, rock hyrax have two large tusk-like incisors and strong molars for mashing vegetation. Now there's an interesting fact... !!
