Camp Hwange Camp Hwange (part of Wild Expeditions Africa) is in a private concession in the very heart of Hwange.

Small and intimate, Camp Hwange offers 8 canvas and thatch bungalow accommodations of a unique style, all bungalows have en-suite bathroom facilities. The camp offers you the rare opportunity to track Rhino within an Intensive Protection Zone and the terrain here is ideally suited to walking safaris with excellent birding opportunities. Camp Hwange is found on its own private concession within the

park, it offers excellent drives and walking and game likely to be encountered include all of the cat family, wild dog, elephants and buffalo in huge numbers and the usual plain’s game. Walks to the natural springs found in this area are a special highlight. ACTIVITIES: Game drives, game walks and night drives

Some of the less celebrated carnivores here at Camp Hwange photographed by James Hendry on a recent stay.

Bat-eared Fox: there are several families on the concession that are regularly seen.
Black-backed Jackal: the density here has to be seen to be believed. Subjects of a recent documentary film due out next year.
Spotted Hyaena: intelligent, endearing and completely under-appreciated. We love them.

It's not every day you see a pangolin! In fact it's not even every month at Camp Hwange. So every sighting causes huge excitement. This chap was found on drive yesterday. Bring on the dry season!

Camp Hwange in the Okavango? It's been amazing to have so much water and so many lilies around this year after the summer rains. It's at times like these that the uniqueness of the Camp Hwange concession (in Zimbabwe 😉) really comes into full focus. It's position between the teak forest covered Kalahari sands to the south, and the more rugged mopane woodlands to the north means it is actually a grass covered depression that has a fantastic collection of natural vleis that this year are verdant and full to the brim.
