The Msasa Worm
Aka: the Msasa Moth Caterpillar
(Pachymeta robusta)

This fluffy caterpillar definitely dresses for the chilly Nyanga weather! 😂
Normally seen in larger numbers on msasa trees. They disperse at night time to feed on the leaves of msasa trees.

Do you know any facts about these beautiful Msasa worms! Please share in the comments below if you do! 🐛

If you take the time to look around you, it’s everywhere! It’s beautiful colours and unique patterns cover the rocks and trees.

Do you know what lichen actually is?

It’s a symbiotic relationship between fungus and algae.
The algae provides food for the fungus and in return the fungus gathers water for the algae. They both benefit from each other and thrive at Hidden Rocks.

Lichens are a great indicator of air quality & they can grow just about anywhere, they also provide great nesting tools for birds & insects.

Lichen plays a very important role in the ecosystem.
We just love the intricate patterns and fascinating colours 😍

For almost 20 years our home was just a place we might have visited from time to time. Now we're looking forward to creating our home away from home.
