This Is Why Your Cruise Ship Job Application Gets Ignored.🤔
Most people don’t get rejected.
They get ignored.
And it’s usually because of these mistakes:
1. Your Resume Is Not Cruise-Standard.
Cruise lines don’t want a normal office CV.
Common mistakes:
• No passport details
• No height / weight
• No work history
• No maritime format
• No position applied for
• Too long (3–5 pages)
Fix:
Use a 1–2 page maritime resume with:
• Position applied for
• Nationality
• Passport expiry
• STCW (if any)
• Work experience
• Relevant hotel/restaurant work
2. You’re Applying for the Wrong Position.
People apply for:
• Chef with zero kitchen experience.
• Security Guard with no Security, Police or Military background.
• Housekeeping with no hospitality background.
Recruiters auto-skip these.
Fix:
Apply only to roles that match your real experience:
• Waiter
• Utility
• Cleaner
• Storekeeper
• Security Staff/Guard
3. Your Email or Online Form Looks Unprofessional.
Recruiters see thousands of applications.
Ignored if:
• No subject line
• Bad grammar
• “Sir/Madam I need job pls”
• No position mentioned
• Attachments named: resume1.docx
Fix:
Subject: Application for Waiter – [Your Name]
Short professional message
Resume file named: John_Doe_Waiter_CV.pdf
4. You Don’t Have the Required Documents Yet.
Many cruise lines filter out people who:
• Don’t have a passport
• Don’t have medical
• Don’t have STCW
• Don’t have seaman’s book
Fix:
At least:
• Valid passport
• Resume
• Willingness statement
• Timeline for documents
5. You Applied Only Once and Gave Up.
Cruise recruitment is slow.
Reality:
• Replies take 1–6 months or even years.
• Many get hired on the 3rd–7th application.
Fix:
Reapply every 30–45 days or depends on your availability.
Track your applications.
Follow up politely.
6. You’re Applying Through Fake or Wrong Agencies.
Scam pages waste your time.
Fix:
Apply only through:
• Official cruise websites
• POEA Licensed manning agencies
Never pay for “guaranteed placement.”
7. Your Social Media Is a Red Flag.
Some recruiters check profiles.
Ignored if they see:
• Hate speech
• Fake job posts
"Your application is not being rejected.
It’s being ignored".
And it’s usually because of your resume, wrong position, bad email, or missing documents.
NOTE: Mag ingat sa mga illegal recruiters. Wala pong anumang bayad ang pag process at pag apply sa cruise ship.🚢
