Mrs Thissen, it was lovely celebrating your birthday with you during your stay at 528.

We hope the cake at breakfast made the morning feel a little more special.

The cake was made especially for you by Simba from Simba’s Artisan Bakery.

And … we agree.. cake at breakfast is a very good birthday idea! 😊

🌿 THE 528 STORY | Where It All Began

528 began with an old house on Reynard Road, surrounded by magnificent trees and a garden that had seen better days.

The house needed considerable attention, but the setting had something special about it. We wanted to retain as much of its original character as possible while creating a comfortable, welcoming guesthouse.

What followed was a lengthy process of renovation, restoration and regeneration, with plenty of challenges and changes along the way.

Looking back at these early days, it’s lovely to remember how it all started — and how much has changed since.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll share a little of that journey, from the original property to the 528 Victoria Falls you see today.

A look back at the beginnings of 528.

🫸🌴The cycad pots were moved so the builders could finish the plastering around the gate, they have been repositioned successfully! We have so much movement through these gates that the pots need to be very stable to survive the knocks from buses and transport! We trim them regularly!! 😀 !
