Another lovely day at Honeysuckle, reminiscing with Jan Ledger (née Cunningham) and eldest Son Mark. Much laughter and some tears were had over Tea and Scones with the finest china!

The Old Honeysuckle Inn was honoured to be chosen by Chris and Jess as their place to be married on Friday 1st November 2024.
History repeating, but a long time has passed since the last known Wedding in 1866, here at this special place!

Congratulations and much love to you both!

It’s a grey day at Honeysuckle after a run of gorgeous Autumn weather, but it’s Cosy and warm inside The Old Honeysuckle Inn!!
I was hopeful from my post last week, that I would find a photo of the Original Inn pre 1940’s, but it’s not looking very likely that one even exists! 😔
However, I would still love to offer someone with a Heritage connection, the opportunity to enjoy a complimentary two night stay at The Old Honeysuckle Inn!
Share your story of connection and why you would love to stay in the home of your Ancestors.
This offer is available to two people for a two night stay to be arranged with the recipients once chosen.
I look forward to hearing your story!

Hello to all lovely followers of The Old Honeysuckle Inn!
The past few years have seen tough times for many and rather than being a holiday destination, the Honeysuckle Inn has been home to those needing a more permanent place to stay.
However, there is a window of opportunity to offer a two-night complimentary stay to someone with a Heritage connection to The Old Honeysuckle Inn! This offer comes with a challenge to the first person who can provide a Photo of the original Honeysuckle Inn, pre 1940's.
This is an opportunity for one or two people to connect with the place of their Ancestors and experience the peace, quiet and privacy of this lovingly restored home. Excited to hear from that person!
With much anticipation and Kind Regards from Yvonne
I look forward to hearing from YOU!

Another great day at Honeysuckle last Sunday 16th October saw funds raised of over $1,300 for Can Assist! A huge thank you to all who helped out on the day and to the Bermagui Ukalips and Frock n Troll for the great Music! The weather was kind once again and a light shower in the afternoon didn’t matter at all. Thank you to those who came from near and far, the biggest effort being from Queanbeyan especially for the event!
It’s wonderful to have received such positive feedback of how visitors so enjoy just being at Honeysuckle! A special place indeed!
We look forward to the next one!!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Honeysuckle this Sunday 16th October! Gates open at 10.30am.
You are invited to the Open Day Fundraising Event “Take 4”, at the “Old Honeysuckle Inn” Wyndham on Sunday 16th October 22.
The day will kick off with Morning Tea at 10.30am and continue until 5pm with Music, Food and Hot beverages available throughout the day. All funds raised will go to the Bega Branch of Can Assist, our local support group offering financial assistance to locals who are undergoing treatment for Cancer.
The Bermagui Ukalips are great supporters of this cause and will start the day with an eclectic musical variety from Country, Hits of the 60’s and 70’s and a little bit of Rock and Roll! Their motto is to play fast and furious, have fun and encourage the audience to sing and dance along! They’re a great bunch to boot!
We are thrilled to welcome back to Honeysuckle, the fabulous Frock n Troll who will be playing from 1pm to 5pm with folk tunes and storytelling with an alternative country feel and their signature Australian Mountain Music sound. This will be the Launch in the Bega Valley, of their third CD Little Dirt Road. This is a distinctive and personal collection of original songs and tunes about their home, love, money and other relevant stuff, all in their own unique alternative Country Folk style. Complimenting these is a small but diverse selection of covers and traditional music that Gus and Sherri have made their own. Little Dirt Road reflects their love of the mountains rivers and valleys of the Australian High Country and the beautiful life they have created there.
This is a great opportunity to gather with family and friends in this unique and tranquil Historic setting in the beautiful Honeysuckle Valley, surrounded by relics from the past.
So bring a chair or rug, your own refreshments and enjoy great Food and Music all day in the spacious and welcoming grounds of Wyndham’s first built, “Honeysuckle Inn”.

It is with deep respect that I inform the Community of Wyndham and district of the passing of Bernard Cornell. Bernie's Funeral Service will be held in Sydney on Monday 6th September 21. Tim Cornell has kindly provided a link for the Live Streaming of the Service which will be available from 9.50am for a 10am start. We will have the opportunity to gather and honour Bernie and share our stories of our highly respected Historian at a Memorial Service in his beloved Wyndham later in the year.

Update: Unfortunately, the internet connection inside the church is weak which may result in freezing. Should this occur, a recording of the service will be available to view later today. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Hickey’s come home!
Pictured are some of the Hickey family who gathered at their ancestral home, “The Old Honeysuckle Inn” over the weekend of 15th to 18th of November 19.
James Hickey purchased the property from William Hibburd on 14th September 1885, some 30 years after the Inn was built to cater for the Gold Rush era.
These decendants who travelled from Cooktown, Brisbane, Newcastle, Sydney, Canberra and Murrumbateman were treated to Devonshire Teas over a chat with local historian Bernard Cornell. Bernie shared his memories of the Hickey's of Honeysuckle and the tough and basic life of those bygone days.
