August marks 87 years since Lake Mulwala began to fill!

On the 12th of August 1939, water began filling the newly formed Lake Mulwala following the construction of Yarrawonga Weir.

Years later, those iconic dead river red gums are still one of the things that make Lake Mulwala so recognisable.

The Yarrawonga Weir is a beautiful spot to slow down, enjoy the scenery and see a little piece of the Murray River system in action.

Grab some local treats, find a shady spot and enjoy a picnic by the water. Take some time to watch the water flow through the weir and continue downstream into the mighty Murray River. 🌳🧺
