Today, we recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities, and the lasting impacts of the residential school system and the current challenges Indigenous peoples face.

Golden is a place with deep and ongoing connections to the Secwépemc, Ktunaxa and Métis peoples. Today is an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on the histories and experiences of Indigenous peoples, and to consider the role each of us can play in reconciliation.

We encourage our community and visitors to take time today to learn, participate in local events and continue that learning beyond September 30.

What the heck is a larch? 🌲✨

Unlike most conifers, larches lose their needles every fall but not before putting on one of the best colour shows in the mountains.

Around Golden, these golden trees are a sure sign that fall has arrived! But larch season doesn’t last long. If you catch them at their peak, make the most of it. 🍂
