We’re still here. And that’s worth celebrating.

Sixteen years of welcoming backpackers, creating connections, and running a hostel in Hamilton, Ontario.

Pring Guesthouse recently shared a look back at 16 years of being the only backpackers hostel in Hamilton and what it has taken to keep going.

Some things change. Some things don’t.

The industry changes. Travelers change. Challenges change. But there’s something special about seeing a hostel continue to show up year after year.

Not every win has to be a record month, a full house, or a big milestone

──────────────────
For the hostel operators in our community:

What’s a milestone, big or small, that you’re proud your hostel has reached?

Maybe it’s an anniversary. A returning guest. A team member who has stayed with you for years. Getting through a difficult season. Or simply making it through another year of doing this work.

Share your win with us. We’d love to celebrate it with you!

Stop the presses!!

Ruby-throated hummingbird sighted in the garden today! We never would have dreamed that this beautiful little puffball would have stopped by to grab some nectar from our flowers on its southward journey.

A very exciting moment in our ongoing mission to create wildlife habitat downtown!

(Please note, we were way too slow to grab a photo, this picture is care of a CBC article about hummingbirds from September2022 CBC CBC Hamilton )

The Bruce Trail Conservancy is invaluable to us here in Southern Ontario for their stewardship of this vital natural area. They also provide us with loads of wonderful hikers! Please consider donating to them if you are able, or share if you are not!

For generations, Talisman has been a place for people to enjoy and remember, whether skiing its slopes, hiking its trails or simply taking in the beauty of the Beaver Valley.
