What a beautiful week to host a group of accomplished plein air painters at the Inn 🌼

This group from Toronna descended on Pelee and scattered to all points north, south, east West and in between to capture inspired representations of the island.

From the Dick's marina straight from the Upsidedown heavy and dark, the bright colours of L'il Leamville to the rich fall hues of the well worked farm fields, Lighthouse 1833, the North Dock District and the Florian Diamante Wetland Complex....some much loved destinations captured by a talented group.

Dinners at the Inn with campfires and owling at night capped off sunny days filled with fluffy clouds. Thanks to Westview Tavern and SH1891 for looking after this group.

9 years ago... October 2017.

We bought an Inn. We did the work. We continue to do the work. We are committed and consistent and we know you appreciate that when you come back year over year.

We keep it simple. We work within limits. We aren't fussy or fancy.

We've stayed true to our own north star and let our own values guide us and how we choose to run our small business.

From banning jerks, paying a living wage and hiring local, to supporting our friends in business and on island charitable orgs where we can... we try to be good little corporate citizens while we pour strong coffee and squirrel away a seasons worth of campfire wood at a time.

We have put all we have into this old place. We do it with heart and some laughs because we choose to live and work on Pelee and we want to share what we love about it with guests for even for a coupla days.

We couldn't have done it all those years ago without good grace from Sandra Laranja, encouragement and love for our families, friends and our adopted Gabriele clan, and the necessary knowledge from Randy and Uncle Kevin. We couldn't continue to do it without Amber, Marilyn, Darlene, incredible neighbours on both sides of the lake and still uncle Kevin while Randy passes the torch to Richard.

We had our doubters. Probably still do 🤷‍♀️ Meh.

We're a still a simple Inn on a quiet island. If it's less you're after, we still have more of it.

We are officially in October which means the Pelee Island Pheasant Hunt is just around the corner! First hunt starts Thursday October 22!

This past week, guests from Paris, Burlington, Toronto, Hamilton and Cambridge Ontario, to Lemont, Lake Forest Illinois, Akron Ohio and Waukesha Wisconsin came together under the harvest moon on a big island in the middle of a great lake!

They biked (even in the dark) they hiked the point, they braved the East wind, they adjusted sails on a cancelled boat or two, they got an earful or 5 about the unfairness of it all at the bar, they rehearsed the big day and celebrated the new couple married on Pelee where the grooms parents have a place now close to all their hearts 💟

We have some availability next weekend and then October 14-17 and then that's all folks!

2027 calendar is open. Book early for preferred dates and suites!

September is our favourite time on the island! It is still really warm, gets pretty quiet and the mornings are *chef's kiss*

A little ode to the people that used to call Pelee home that stay with us now...we are proud to be a place Islanders come home to, share with their families and friends and come back to and again. 💟

This past week guests hunted for the glacial grooves, tried the perch, made new friends, spent time with some old friends, visited forebears and honoured them at the graveyard, celebrated 70, slept out in the hammock, slowrolled brekkie, read under the Mulberry and e-biked away the days thanks to The Pelee Shop.

From St.Petes Beach FLA to Cleveland OH, we have been visiting with faaaaaar more Americans this years than any other..... Thanks for your business and thanks for visiting the best neighbor anyone has ever had 🇨🇦🇺🇸

From Windsor, Aliston, Toronto, Grand Bend and Aberfoyle to Kingsville, Bayfield, Mississauga and Guelph, guests this weekend cried Dolores and celebrated Mexican Independence, they cheered for the opening of Atwood-Gibson Bird Centre, they broke bread and devoured the turkey at the Heritage Dinner, chased a couple balls, walked a couple beaches, followed the sunset and biked allll the roads!

The weather peeps are claiming we will have a nice, long warm Fall!

Hold the pumpkin spice just a little longer!

September is a great time to bike the island. Pelee Island is mixed gravel and paved routes, with very little traffic and panoramic lakefront views.

Multiple nature reserves, hiking trails and natural beaches dot the Waterfront Trail / Trans Canada Trail.

We have some good availability Friday September 18- Sunday September 20.

Oh Labour Day... the holiday that signals the start of a slower pace for us, but back at for all of you!

This past weekend, guests were treated to tornado warnings, rainy rides, the calm after the storm, daily dips in a great lake, some big band, a little southern hospitality after the circus found new monkeys all while Kevy kept up the season long Spring mowing regime.

Guests came from Russia by way of Toronto, Brantford, St.Thomas, Morpeth, Wallaceburg, Kitchener, Tilbury, Canton MI to spend the dwindling days of summer on Pelee Island.

September is a beautiful time to visit Pelee. It stays warmer just a little longer here and you can catch some beauty summer days into October. Check online for availability and get in where you fit in!
