Well, yesterday evening was another one of those moments that reminds me just how blessed we are here at A Day's Getaway.

By late evening, our little campground was nearly full. One by one, guests rolled through the gate, and before long, the place was buzzing with happy faces, friendly conversations, and travelers settling in after a long day on the road. The weather may not have been the finest, but you wouldn't know it by the smiles that were shining all around the campground.

This morning, as always, came the bittersweet part.

We once again said our "see you laters" to some wonderful folks as they continued on their Newfoundland adventures. Before they left, I found a beautiful little note left on my camper door. It's amazing how something so small can mean so much. Those little notes, kind words, and thoughtful gestures truly put an extra spring in my step and remind me why I love doing what I do.

One of my favourite parts of this morning was sharing out our homemade banana bread muffins. Sure, they're a tasty treat with a morning coffee or tea, but for me, they're much more than that. They open the door to conversations, stories, laughter, and connections. I get to hear where people have come from, what brought them to Newfoundland, and where their journey will take them next, but most importantly it makes them feel welcomed , and cared for.

Today we've welcomed even more guests for the weekend, and once again our little corner of Route 330 is alive with people making memories.

Now speaking of weekends, tomorrow is Sunday, and our gate will remain closed.

Sundays are usually my only day off. It's a day to spend with family and friends, a day to worship, reflect, recharge, and prepare my heart for another week ahead. Running a campground is a lot of work, but it's also one of life's greatest blessings.

If I could shout one thing from the rooftops, it would be this:

The very best part of owning and operating A Day's Getaway isn't the campground itself, it's the people.

People from all over Canada and all around the world travel to visit our beautiful rock surrounded by the mighty Atlantic Ocean. I used to wonder what it would be like to travel the world and meet people from different places. Now, in a funny sort of way, I don't have to. They come right to me. They pull into the campground, walk through the gate, and before long we're sharing stories as if we've known each other for years.

And honestly, that's a gift I'll never take for granted.

So if you're travelling along Route 330 tomorrow and happen to find our gate closed, don't worry. Simply call the number posted on the gate, and I'll gladly give you any information you need and instructions if we have availability.

Until then, enjoy your Sunday, travel safely, and remember to slow down long enough to appreciate the little moments.

Because somehow Monday always seems to roll around much faster than we think. ❀️

Some of the sweetest moments here at A Day's Getaway don't come from the big things. They come from the little things.

A quiet morning. The sound of birds singing. A hot cup of coffee in your hands. A friendly wave from a neighboring campsite. And tomorrow morning, the smell of fresh Banana Bread Muffins served from campground kitchen to your campsite 🧁🍌

Tomorrow is our weekly Muffin Day here at A Day's Getaway!

Every Saturday morning, we take homemade muffins around to each campsite and share them with our guests. It's a tradition that started simply because we wanted to do something extra. Something that says, "We're happy you're here."

This week's flavor is Banana Bread Muffins, and I have a feeling there'll be a few folks super happy tomorrow morning.

Truth be told, seeing the smiles on people's faces is one of my favorite parts of campground life. It's not just about muffins. It's about making people feel welcome. It's about slowing down for a moment and sharing a little kindness. It's about treating guests not like customers, but like friends we've been waiting to meet.

We are incredibly thankful for every person who chooses to stay with us. Whether you're here for one night or a whole week, you become part of the story of this little hidden gem along the Kittiwake Coast.

So tomorrow morning, while you're enjoying your coffee or tea, keep an eye out. We might just be coming around with a warm Banana Bread Muffin and a smile. ❀️

Sometimes the smallest acts of kindness leave the biggest memories.

From our campground family to yours, thank you for being part of A Day's Getaway.

β˜€οΈ Good Morning from A Day's Getaway β˜€οΈ

Well, it looks like the weather has changed its mind again.

After what seems like more grey skies than sunshine lately, we woke up this morning to the sun shining high over the campground. The grass is glowing, the birds are singing, and for the first time in a little while, it truly feels like summer is trying to find its way back to us.

This morning, we'll be saying our "see ya laters" to some wonderful guests as they continue their travels across Newfoundland. Watching folks pull out of the campground is always bittersweet. Just a few days ago they arrived as strangers, and now they're leaving as familiar faces with stories shared, laughs exchanged, and memories made.

That's one of the greatest gifts this little campground has given us.

The chance to meet people from all walks of life and make them feel at home, even if it's only for a night or two.

Speaking of home...

If you happen to arrive today, don't be surprised if you're greeted by the smell of fresh baking floating through the campground.

Yesterday, every last piece of pie disappeared. We couldn't be more thankful. So today we're trying something a little different.

At Campsite #1, our camper oven will be hard at work baking homemade Pumpkin Spice Loaf. πŸŽƒπŸž

There is something special about the smell of fresh baking mixed with the salty coastal air. It reminds us of simpler times... when a warm treat, a friendly welcome, and a place to rest your head were all you needed to feel cared for.

So for our new guests arriving today, there'll be a fresh slice waiting and a warm welcome to go with it.

Because around here, you're not just renting a campsite.

You're becoming part of the story.

As another weekend begins, our hearts are full of gratitude. Thank you to everyone who has visited, shared a post, recommended us to a friend, or simply cheered us on from afar. Every reservation, every wave from the road, and every smiling face pulling into the campground means more than you'll ever know.

If your travels take you along the beautiful Kittiwake Coast this weekend, we'd be honoured to welcome you.

Stay for a night.
Stay for the weekend.
Stay long enough to watch the sunset and forget about the clock.

We'll havr the smiles ready, and... there may even be a slice of pumpkin spice loaf with your name on it. ❀️

Today was another beautiful day here at A Day's Getaway, and what a difference a day can make. The skies were a little kinder to us today compared to yesterday. It seems lately we've seen more rain, drizzle, and gray skies than sunshine. But if there's one thing life has taught us, it's not to get discouraged. Summer will come in its own time. Until then, we can all be thankful for the simple blessing of waking up each morning with breath in our lungs and another day ahead of us.

Yesterday, we said our "see you laters" to two wonderful couples who had stayed with us. One of those couples left us a beautiful review on Google Maps. To read such kind words from people who were strangers only a short while ago truly humbles us. It means more than we can put into words. Every review, every smile, every handshake, and every conversation reminds us why we opened our gates in the first place.

As the evening rolled in yesterday, we welcomed more guests to our little hidden gem here on Route 330 along Newfoundland's beautiful Kittiwake Coast. With the weather being wet and gray, it felt especially important to make sure they were tucked away safely for the night, off the highway and settled in comfortably. There's something comforting about knowing weary travelers have found a quiet place to rest.

This morning, we wished them safe travels and said our "see you laters" once again, before welcoming the next group of guests scheduled to roll in. Every day brings new faces, new stories, and new friendships. We truly enjoy welcoming each and every soul who passes through our gate. It never gets old.

In fact, we enjoyed it so much today that we ran out of pie! The very last piece was given away this afternoon. Seeing someone smile over a simple slice of strawberry rhubarb pie is one of those little joys that never loses its touch. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have another pie ready to welcome our new guests as they arrive for the evening.

The forecast says tomorrow may be another wet day, but that's alright. Rain or shine, we'll be here, ready and waiting with a warm welcome for anyone needing a quiet, safe place to rest, recharge, and take in the beauty of this special corner of Newfoundland.

From our family to yours, thank you for being part of our journey. We are grateful for every guest, every kind word, and every opportunity to share this little piece of the world with you.
