🌊🍂 SEPTEMBER ON THE KITTIWAKE COAST 🍂🌊

The coast doesn't close… it just gets a little quieter.

If you're thinking about a little September getaway, don't count the Kittiwake Coast out just because Labour Day has come and gone.

Yes, some of our seasonal attractions and businesses are winding down for the summer. But here's the thing…

The ocean is still here. The beaches are still here. The trails are still here. And we're still here. ❤️

At A Day's Getaway, we're staying open right through October 2nd, giving you a cozy little home base to explore the quieter side of the Kittiwake Coast.

🌊 PLACES TO EXPLORE

🏖️ Musgrave Harbour Beach
Our beautiful white-sand beach is still waiting for those long walks, beachcombing, photographs and those “I can't believe this is Newfoundland” moments.

🏖️ Doting Cove Beach
Another beautiful stretch of coastline right here along the Straight Shore. Perfect for wandering, taking pictures and listening to the waves.

🥾 Wonder Shore Trails
September is a beautiful time to explore the trails without the heat and busyness of July and August.

The Lumsden Shoreline Trail, Cape Freels Trail, Newtown Trail, Business Pond Trail and Greenspond Trail are among the coastal trails that extend well into the fall.

🐦 Carmanville Wetlands
A great place for a peaceful walk, birdwatching and simply getting out into nature.

🌊 Cape Freels
Bring your camera! Coastal scenery, beaches, birds, fishing boats and the possibility of spotting seals or whales make this a beautiful September drive.

☕ AND YES… YOU CAN STILL EAT! 😉

A few local businesses continue operating into September, including Rocky Ridge Diner in Musgrave Harbour, while other little places along the coast may have reduced or changing hours.

That's the one thing about travelling this time of year:

Call ahead.

Small businesses are run by real people, and September is when their schedules can change from week to week.

You'll also find grocery stores, fuel and other necessities along the route, so you don't have to come prepared to live completely off the land. 😂

🎨 WANT SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT?

There are still local artists and small businesses to discover too.

Places such as Norton's Cove Studio offer a chance to see Newfoundland art and craftsmanship in a much more personal setting.

And The Homestead Adventures in New-Wes-Valley offers year-round experiences and opportunities to explore the area in a whole different way.

Here at A Day's Getaway, we're keeping the gate open until October 2nd.

So if you're looking for:

Because around here, we don't really believe the season ends when Labour Day weekend is over.

The summer rush may leave… but the Kittiwake Coast is still beautiful.

🍂 SEPTEMBER IS HERE… AND WE’RE STILL HERE! 🌊⛺️

With Labour Day weekend almost here, many of the seasonal businesses along Route 330 will soon be closing their doors for another summer.

But not us! ❤️

If you’re still exploring the Kittiwake Coast, chasing a quiet beach, looking for that ocean view, or just needing a peaceful place to park for the night --A Day’s Getaway is staying open until October 2nd!

Our ocean-view campsites are still available, firewood is still here for your firepit, the beaches are still waiting, and the same warm hospitality you’ve experienced all summer is still here too. 🌊🔥

The only thing changing is our gate hours, starting tomorrow:

🕙 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM

The days are getting shorter, and darkness is arriving a little earlier.

Arriving after the gate is closed? No problem! Just call the number on the sign at the gate. 📞 We’ll share the instructions and let you know what availability we have.

September has its own kind of beauty here… quieter roads, cooler evenings, warm campfires and that beautiful ocean right outside your door. 🍁❤️

🌊 GOOD AFTERNOON FROM A DAY’S GETAWAY! 🌊

Well folks… here we are again -- Monday and the start of another amazing week here at A Day’s Getaway! ❤️

And would you believe it… we've got another big long weekend coming up, and guess what?

👉 WE STILL HAVE A FEW CAMPSITES AVAILABLE! ⛺️

So if you've been thinking about packing up the camper and sneaking away for a night or two, this might be your sign. 😉

Yesterday we welcomed More guests to our little hidden gem, and they've already completely fallen in love with our campground. 🥰

And honestly… those are the moments that mean the most to me.

You folks arrive as strangers, pull into your campsite, settle in for a while… and before you know it, we're chatting away like we've known each other forever.

We are truly so blessed by the guests who choose to make A Day’s Getaway their home away from home, even if it's only for a few nights. ❤️

This morning started out absolutely beautiful here along the shore, although we've got a few showers expected to roll through this afternoon.

But PLEASE don't let a little Newfoundland drizzle stop you from travelling! 😂🌧️

Sometimes a little rain is just the perfect excuse to slow down, pull in somewhere cozy and enjoy the scenery.

And while you're travelling Route 330 along the Kittiwake Coast, why not make a little detour to our campground tucked away along the shore?

Oh… and did I mention…

🍎🥧 THERE'S APPLE PIE!

Yep. You read that right. 😂

I've got a few slices waiting for some campers at check-in. First come , first serve unfortunately, well at least til we run out of pie.

Limited supply, of course .

But maybe… just maybe… YOU'LL be a receiver of this sweet little treat!

So don't be shy about travelling Route 330 just because some of the other tourist places and campgrounds have already closed their gates after the first week of September.

We're staying open for all of you who are still travelling, exploring, enjoying the quieter roads and looking for a peaceful place to pull in and stay awhile.

Well… things just start getting a little cozier. 🥰

Our Saturday Muffin Days are still happening depending on the number of guests that are staying with us, but now we're adding a little warmth to those cooler days…

🍲 Homemade soup or
🫎 MOose stew

ON WEDNESDAYS!!

Because when that Newfoundland chill starts creeping into your bones, there's nothing quite like a hot bowl of something homemade to warm you right back up. ❤️

I love making chili, soups and stews…

…and I certainly don't mind sharing them with my guests. 😉

That's just the way we do things here.

🌅 SUNRISES or SUNSETS… which one would you choose? 🌅

I was thinking about this today because one of the things I absolutely love about having A Day’s Getaway is that I don’t just get to see the beauty of this place myself…

I get to see it through my guests’ eyes too. ❤️

Our ocean-view campers have the pleasure of waking up and stepping outside to watch the sun come up over the Atlantic. And every now and then, one of those beautiful morning photos will land in my messages.

And let me tell you…

I never get tired of them. 🥹❤️

I might have seen that same ocean a hundred times.

I might have walked past that view while checking a campsite, carrying something, fixing something, or probably thinking about the hundred other things that need doing around here. 😂

But then a guest sends me a photo of that sunrise…

And I stop.

I look at it through their eyes.

And I’m reminded all over again just how special this little piece of Newfoundland really is.

There’s something humbling about knowing someone woke up here, stepped outside with their coffee, and thought,

"I need to take a picture of this."

And then thought enough of it to share it with me. ❤️

Those photos have become little treasures to me.

And while our guests get to enjoy those beautiful sunrises, I think I might be more of a sunset girl myself. There’s just something about watching the day slowly wind down over the water, especially when everything gets quiet and you can sit for a minute and take it all in.

But honestly…

Sunrise or sunset, I think we’re pretty spoiled here. 🌅🌄

And maybe that’s what I love most about A Day’s Getaway.

It’s not just about providing someone with a campsite.

It’s about giving people a little place to slow down.

A place to wake up with the ocean outside your door.

A place to sit around a campfire at the end of the day.

A place where you might see a sunrise you’ll remember…

Or a sunset that makes you sit there just a few minutes longer.

Well… just know you’re probably going to make this campground lady’s whole day. ❤️

🌅 Describe this in ONE word…

For me… PEACEFUL. ❤️

I took one look at this picture and thought, this is exactly why I love this place.

There’s just something about an evening like this. The sun goes down over the water, the reflection stretching across the ocean, the picnic table sitting there waiting for somebody to pull up a chair, and that little fire pit just begging for a campfire. 🥰🔥

And honestly… sometimes I think we get so busy trying to get somewhere or do something that we forget to just sit down and take it all in.

This is one of those places where you can do just that.

Sit by the water.
Have a campfire.
Watch the sunset.
Listen to the quiet.
And maybe have a good little chat with the folks sitting at the next campsite. ❤️

That’s the kind of camping I love. Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just good people, fresh air, beautiful views and memories being made.
