Some people genuinely amaze me.
I run 247a Chalet with very few rules because I believe adults should be able to enjoy their holiday without being treated like children. No constant messages. No ridiculous restrictions. Just respect the property and leave it in a reasonable condition.
Unfortunately, the latest guests decided that basic decency wasn't for them.
The chalet was left filthy, items were damaged, and the condition was so bad that my cleaner felt the need to contact me directly. That's not something that happens often.
What really takes the prize, though, is leaving the property in that state and then leaving a low review afterwards.
The irony is outstanding.
For the avoidance of doubt, the guests have been reported for misconduct.
People seem to forget that holiday accommodation doesn't magically clean and repair itself. There are real people behind these businesses spending their time, money and energy trying to provide somewhere nice for others to enjoy.
If you want five-star treatment, perhaps start by behaving like a five-star guest.
Thankfully, guests like this are the exception, not the rule. The vast majority of our visitors are respectful, appreciative and leave the chalet exactly as they found it.
To those guests, thank you.
To the rest, maybe next time treat someone else's property the way you'd expect your own home to be treated.
