👨‍🍳 Meet Our Chef 🧑‍🍳

Our fantastic Head Chef, Ben Lightley, who joined us in October, brings a wealth of experience from Le Petit Château, Jesmond Dene House and The Kitchen at Castle Terrace in Edinburgh.

Ben has been busy shaping our newly launched Summer Menu, centred around hearty, traditional dishes, quality local produce and food that feels perfectly at home in our riverside setting.

Ben’s vision for the menu ✨
“Local, seasonal produce in a gastro pub style with a countryside twist. I’ve really enjoyed creating the new menu. My head totally went to Greece whilst writing it - I took a lot of inspiration from the colours and flavours I’ve experienced there.”

Moules Marinière! I ate it a lot as a child, it’s my dad’s favourite dish and it reminds me of a special place we would visit in the south of France.

Another exciting new addition is our quoits pitches! We are delighted to welcome two new teams into the local leagues, and we host teams from all over the county for home games here.

If you fancy a pint whilst watching, matches are played on Wednesday evenings from 7pm.

We’re delighted to unveil our new games room - With pool, darts, vintage sports magazines, books and plenty of space to relax, it’s a place for guests and locals to enjoy. 🎯

Ever since taking over the reins of the building, we’ve wanted to create a true community pub atmosphere - a welcoming space where people can spend time with friends. This new addition feels like another step towards making that vision a reality.

Our Summer menu launches this weekend! 🍴

Ben Lightley, our fabulous head chef has been busy behind the scenes creating a menu that offers a bit of everything - from bar snacks and tasty small plates to lunchtime favourites and delicious dishes perfect for a relaxed evening out.

We’ll be sharing photos and information soon, but if you’d like a sneak peek, why not pop in this weekend and try it for yourself? Food is served daily from 12-8.30pm in the lounge, restaurant and garden.
