The new campaign, led by Tom Kerridge and backed by hospitality organisations across the UK, is calling on the Government to reduce hospitality VAT from 20% to 10%.

This isn't about supporting one particular pub. We're certainly not claiming to be your favourite pub!
It's about protecting whichever pub, café, restaurant or hospitality venue YOU love most.
The reality is stark:
📉 366 pubs couldn’t carry on & closed permanently in 2025.😡
📉 Another 161 pubs have already closed their doors in the first three months of 2026. 🥲
Every closure means lost jobs, lost community spaces and another part of Britain's social fabric disappearing.
Hospitality is one of the UK's biggest employers and one of the most heavily taxed sectors. Yet while many European countries benefit from reduced hospitality VAT rates, UK hospitality continues to pay 20% VAT.
Whether your favourite venue is a village pub, a town-centre restaurant, a café or a local bar, rising costs are making survival harder every year.
If nothing changes, more independent hospitality businesses will disappear.
