Our recent guest Spencer Hoadly captured these amazing pictures of Kynance Cove during his and his family’s stay with us. He’s very kindly said we can use them on our page.

Kynance Cove is just a 30-minute walk from our house (less if you’re a fast walker like me 😊). And yes… it really does look like this.

Kynance Cove is one of those places that you need to see.

𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕨𝕒𝕤 𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕟𝕠𝕟-𝕟𝕖𝕘𝕠𝕥𝕚𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖.

When we bought the old bungalow that once stood here, the sea view was incredible… but you barely got to see it from inside the house.

We knew that had to change.

So we designed Scilla and Sea Skapya with reverse living. The bedrooms are downstairs, and upstairs is a big open-plan living space with doors opening onto the private balcony, so the view is always there for guests to enjoy.

It’s probably the thing guests mention most in their reviews about the houses. This photo was taken by guests staying last weekend, and we loved it so much we asked if we could share it.

𝔻𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕘𝕖𝕥 𝕔𝕒𝕦𝕘𝕙𝕥 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕠𝕟 ℂ𝕠𝕣𝕟𝕨𝕒𝕝𝕝’𝕤 𝕓𝕖𝕒𝕔𝕙𝕖𝕤 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤 𝕤𝕦𝕞𝕞𝕖𝕣…

From today, 1 July to 31 August, many Cornwall beaches have dog restrictions between 10am and 6pm.

The good news? One of our favourite dog-friendly beaches is only 10 minutes from the house by car (or around a 1½-hour walk if you fancy stretching everyone’s legs!).

Kennack Sands (the eastern side of the beach, furthest from the car park) welcomes dogs all year round.
It’s one of those beaches you can happily spend the whole day at.

🚗 Plenty of parking
🔥 BBQs are allowed too (just make sure they’re fully extinguished and all rubbish is taken home).

Make sure you have sufficient parking time paid for at car park if you’ve driven - as we’ve been told the signal is non existent on east side of the beach so can’t extend easily via app when over there and parking fines do happen!

We’ve added a map in the photos to show exactly which part of the beach is dog friendly, and we’ll pop the Cornwall Council link in the comments so you can check restrictions on other beaches locally too.

𝕎𝕖 𝕕𝕚𝕕𝕟’𝕥 𝕤𝕖𝕥 𝕠𝕦𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕕𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕚𝕤…

After sharing a post about C & E Retallack Butchers in the village and seeing such lovely support, we followed it up with Tregullas Farm shop which also received so much positivity, so today we wanted to talk about R Triggs. The Lizard Ice Cream and Gift Shop.

From the outside, you might assume it’s an ice cream and gift shop… and while it is that, there’s so much more packed inside.

It’s a family-run business, now in its third generation, and has been serving ice creams in the village for over 100 years.

One thing we really love is how it operates an on demand-led opening …so if the village is busy, they stay open later.❤️

Inside, it’s a real treasure trove: beach shoes for kids and adults, t-shirts, scarves, bags, hair accessories, jewellery, old-fashioned sweets, fudge, sticks of rock, Cornish biscuits, chilled soft drinks, and local craft beers, ales, ciders, wines and more!

But the real star of the show is the ice cream - Treleavens Luxury Cornish Ice Cream made using milk from Trewithen Dairy in Cornwall. We counted 22 flavours (that’s not including the Mr Whippy machine!), you really are spoilt for choice.

ℍ𝕖𝕣𝕖’𝕤 𝕨𝕙𝕪 𝕘𝕦𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕤 𝕕𝕠𝕟’𝕥 𝕨𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕝𝕖𝕒𝕧𝕖…

This picture was taken of Housel Bay beach yesterday by Cornwall One, this beach is less than a 30 minute walk from our properties. Not only that there are so many other beautiful coves and beaches to see by foot when you stay with us.

Scilla and Sea Skapya are in the centre of the Lizard village, a mere stroll from the door to local and independent shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs. The property is modern, spacious and comfortable ….did we mention the sea views from the reverse living design and the private balcony for you and your guests to enjoy the sun setting over the sea? 🌅

We have availability at both our properties this week until Sunday - so why not pack your bags and come and enjoy this beautiful weather and this stunning coastline!

Megan stayed with us last week and she loved it so much she extended her stay we think that says it all.

You might not notice these details at first…

The custom lighting in the living and dining area. 💡

Plug sockets just where you need them. 🔌

The private balcony area with seating to make the most of the sun setting over the sea. 🌅

The tiled flooring in the communal areas featuring underfloor heating is both practical for our guests but also cosy underfoot. 👣

The bathrooms have been designed to feel luxurious and make best use of the space available. 🚿

Having built these houses from scratch we’ve poured time into the little details, that we think make a big difference when you stay with us.❤️

📌 THE LOCAL AREA

The property is positioned in the heart of the village overlooking the village green it’s a wonderful spot to watch the comings and goings of Cornish village life.

The Lizard Peninsula is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the property is just minutes from the South West Coast Path. From here, you have endless walking opportunities along some of the most dramatic coastline in the UK. We highly recommend exploring Kynance Cove, Cadgwith, and Polurrian Cove - though in truth, you can’t go wrong in any direction. Wherever you wander, you’re guaranteed breathtaking scenery.

…but the Lizard village is full of fantastic independent businesses, meaning great food, coffee and shopping are never more than a few minutes away.

Today we wanted to share one of our favourite local spots, Tregullas Farm shop. Open every day 8.30am - 4.30pm.

Just a few minutes’ walk away from the property, it’s much more than a farm shop. Alongside fresh fruit and veg, milk, eggs and store cupboard essentials, you’ll find local meat, fish, cheeses, juices, newspapers and plenty more. 🍓🍎🥕🥚 🥩🥓🍤🐟🧀 🗞️

And once the shopping is done, it’s the perfect place to stop for a coffee and homemade cake, enjoy a cream tea, or grab an ice cream on a sunny day. ☕🍰🍦
