A must to visit when you stay with us… Shakespeare’s Globe is home to two very different performance spaces – the outdoor Globe Theatre and the indoor Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is modelled on the candlelit theatres of Shakespeare’s London it echoes the Blackfriars Playhouse, used by Shakespeare’s theatre company from 1609.
Lit by over one hundred beeswax candles, the intimate Sam Wanamaker Playhouse hosts plays, concerts, education workshops and events throughout the year. Its main theatrical season runs from October to April.

The Sam Wanamaker Playhouse is located in London, next to the Globe Theatre on Bankside, the Tate Modern and across the River Thames from St Paul’s Cathedral.

Sheep Drive on Southwark Bridge & Livery Fair 27 September 10am to 4pm an 8 minute cycle ride or 28 minute walk from the hotel.

The Worshipful Company of Woolmen will be hosting their annual sheep drive across the river to re-enact a Freeman's ancient right of taking his sheep into town without paying a toll.
They will be accompanied by the Lord Mayor of London and a special celebrity guest (in previous years they've had the likes of Hollywood actor Damien Lewis, Alan Titchmarsh and Mary Berry).
The bridge will be completely closed to traffic for the day so the public can watch groups of sheep be herded across at 7-minute intervals between 10 AM and 4 PM.
