English Wine Week 2026 is here 🥂

This year marks the 21st English Wine Week, first launched by WineGB in 2006 to raise awareness of England's then budding, but now flourishing domestic viticulture.

With over 1,000 vineyards in the UK, there truly is a lot to celebrate.

Well known regions include Kent and Sussex, but growing in popularity are Essex, Dorset and Devon, all sharing the same seam of chalk soil that runs under the Channel through to Champagne. Yet beyond, pioneering winemakers are setting up vines as far north as North Yorkshire and Anglesey, with a growing number of Welsh producers also growing in popularity.

The annual English Wine Week event sees vineyards across the country open their doors for tours, tastings and events. And with top names in English wine (including Balfour Winery and Chapel Down) clinching wins in this year's Decanter awards over French favourites, there has never been a better time for a glass of English fizz.

Global Wine Tourism Day 2026 🍷

Today marks the inaugural Global Wine Tourism Day, hosted at the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne in Beaune.

Launched by the in partnership with , and supported by the Bourgogne Wine Board, this new international forum is dedicated to the evolution, challenges and future direction of wine tourism worldwide.

We were very happy to take part in the Wine Travel Awards earlier this year, and especially delighted to have been crowned as the Community Member Voting Winner!

We're excited to hear more about the future of wine tourism and see how this event evolves in years to come. A big thank you to the Wine Travel Awards 🍇✈️

Celebrating Chenin Blanc Day ✨

We're all for celebrating wine and love any excuse to sample specific grape varieties. And with today marking International Drink Chenin Blanc Day, we thought it fitting to shine the spotlight on one of the world's most versatile white grape varieties.

Chenin Blanc's ancestral home is the Loire Valley in France, although its adaptability to a range of climates means it is now cultivated globally. The grape is famously known as 'Steen' in South Africa, where it has been planted since the mid-1600s and is now the country's most widely planted white grape.

Since Chenin covers so many styles, it can be paired with a variety of foods:
— Pair dry Chenin with roast chicken and rich white fish 🐟
— For off-dry, try spicy Asian dishes or soft cheeses 🧀
— Sweet/dessert Chenin matches perfectly with lemon tart and crème brûlée 🍋

Where to go based on your favourite wine 🍷

Deciding which wine destination to visit next? Why not use your favourite wine as the starting point and trace the grape back to its roots?

If you’re a lover of Sauvignon Blanc, start with the Loire Valley before exploring Bordeaux, or seek out Italy’s Sauvignon regions. Spain and Slovenia also cultivate this much-loved grape.

Cabernet Sauvignon fans are spoilt for choice, with plantings in France, Italy and Spain. For further afield adventures, visit Argentina and Chile for new world Cabernet Sauvignon wines.

If Tempranillo is your favourite tipple, try Portugal’s famous wine regions or venture to Spain and France. Again, Argentina is a further-flung option for Tempranillo fans.

Chardonnay lovers can explore the growing wine regions in Kent and Sussex, or trace its origins back to Burgundy in France. Champagne, Spain and Italy also boast thriving Chardonnay vineyards.
