France has always been a big part of the Oliver’s Travels story. 🇫🇷

In fact, it’s where it all began. Back in 2003, our founders, Oli and Ravi, spent a week with friends in a crumbling château in the Dordogne: beautiful weather, plenty of w**e and an entire château to call their own. Somewhere during that week, the beginnings of Oliver’s Travels took shape.

More than two decades later, France remains one of our biggest destinations – and our collection has spread far beyond the château.

OLIVER'S HOME OF THE WEEK | Water Lily House

Some houses have a lovely garden. Water Lily House has 20 acres of them – and they’re famous in their own right.

Just outside Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, this old Provençal mas sits among extraordinary landscaped grounds, divided into gardens with their own distinct character. Follow lavender paths to the tennis court, swim beneath palms in the African Garden, find a quiet corner by the pond or settle beneath the trees for lunch around the great marble table. There are two pools, too, plus a kitchen garden, chickens and more than enough space for younger guests to disappear off and play.

The house itself sleeps up to 16 adults and two children across ten bedrooms, with fireplaces, beams, a library, La Cornue kitchen and the sort of rooms that still feel unmistakably Provençal. And when you do eventually leave the gardens, Saint-Rémy is 13km away, with Avignon, Les Baux-de-Provence and L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue all within easy reach.

In the turquoise Ionian, just off the coast of Albania, lies Greece’s greenest island. Stand at the north-west of the peninsula at Paleokastritsa, and you'll see the whole landscape open before you. Lush, green hills rise from every angle, their cypress trees fringing the rocky bay out into endless azure, the old monastery above you.

Anyone who has been to Corfu will attest to the compelling quality of the island, the magic of its verdant nature and labyrinthine alleys.

Though it is not especially large – covering just under 600 square kilometres – Corfu manages to pack in ancient ruins, Venetian architecture, mountain villages, centuries-old churches and some of the world’s most beautiful beaches, making the prospect of a seven-day trip already feel somewhat predicated on compromise.

A little love for Azure Isle Vista from Condé Nast Traveller. 🇭🇷

Rosemary and lavender spilling through the gardens. The Adriatic at the bottom of the hill. Griffon vultures circling overhead. And seven friends with a very lovely villa to themselves.

Chloe Laws recently spent a few days at Azure Isle Vista for Condé Nast Traveller UK, and her piece has us looking at Croatia all over again.

The villa cascades down the hillside on the Kvarner coast, with five en-suite bedrooms, an infinity pool, hammam, cinema, w**e cellar and no fewer than ten places to sneak off to outside. One evening, the team from local restaurant Konoba Pescaria came over to cook dinner at the villa. Exactly how we like our holidays.

JUST CHECKED OUT | Resonance, Scotland

Our Contracts Manager, Ana, recently swapped the office for a few days on the wild southwest coast of Scotland, checking into Resonance, a tiny hideaway for two on a 2,000-acre private estate.

Her verdict? “Magical.”

And it’s the little details she came home talking about. Sea lions bobbing around in the water while she sat in the outdoor bath. A 9km coastal walk followed by fish and chips in Portpatrick. Taking the little rowing boat out on the estate pond. And that feeling of having an extraordinary stretch of the Scottish coast almost entirely to yourself.

For couples, honeymoons, anniversaries or simply two people in need of a very good escape, this one has our vote.

A whole lot of newness has landed... ✨

We’ve been busy adding to our Spain and Italy collections, and there are some great reasons to start thinking about where you’ll spend next summer.

First, Puglia’s Gargano coast, where our new villas at Gattarella come with a whole resort at their disposal, from a private beach and pools to restaurants, kids’ clubs, tennis and watersports. Then to Girona, where Castell del Bosc rises through the forest like something from another century, before heading back to Puglia for whitewashed Masseria La Bella among the olive groves.

Over in Sardinia, Villa Lisina is made for days that revolve almost entirely around the sea.
