Our rooftop, reimagined.
We’re delighted to announce that Pavan Kalyan Sadasivuni, an MA Interior Architecture and Design student Nottingham Trent University has been selected as the winner of our Rooftop Design Competition.
Working in collaboration with NTU, we challenged students to reimagine our rooftop and create a sustainable, creative space that celebrates both Castle House and Nottingham.
Pavan’s winning concept, ‘Rewoven Terrace’, was a firm favourite with the judging panel. His design combines sustainability, nature and Nottingham’s heritage to create a unique rooftop experience overlooking Nottingham Castle.
Inspired by Nottingham’s famous lace-making heritage and Sherwood Forest, the design incorporates bamboo, reclaimed rope, CNC-cut plywood, planting and greenery, while making clever use of the existing pergola structure.
But this competition is about more than just a new rooftop. It’s about supporting emerging talent and giving students the opportunity to respond to a real commercial brief, bringing their creativity and ideas into a live environment.
We were incredibly impressed by the quality, creativity and professionalism of all the entries, making the final decision a difficult one.
A huge congratulations to Pavan, we can’t wait to work with him to develop his concept and bring his vision for the Castle House rooftop to life.
And this is just the beginning. We’re excited to continue building our relationship with Nottingham Trent University and explore more opportunities to work with the incredible creative talent coming through the university.
Watch this space… the Castle House rooftop is about to get even more exciting!
