Wisteria lodge is in Hollym ,
Our gardens are fully enclosed with a lockable gate , so you can sit on your lounger , hot tub , roll top bath or enjoy your game of pool knowing your all chilled , relaxed and safe with your doggies ,
The beach is 1.5 miles away , country walks or for nervous dogs etc at the bottom of the street is a very large enclosed dog field which is reasonably priced

Did you know that a tiny East Yorkshire village inspired one of the greatest works of literature ever written?

The village of Roos holds a truly special place in literary history. It was here, in the summer of 1917, that J.R.R. Tolkien's wife Edith danced and sang for him among the cow parsley in Dents Garth Wood, at the rear of All Saints' Church. Tolkien was stationed nearby during World War One, and that enchanted moment in the glade stayed with him for the rest of his life.

It inspired the Tale of Lúthien Tinuviel and Beren, one of the most important stories in the entire legendarium that Tolkien would go on to create. When Edith died in 1971, he had 'Lúthien' inscribed on her headstone. When he passed, 'Beren' was added beneath his name. Shortly before his death, he intimated to a radio interviewer that Roos was the place in this world that most inspired his world of Middle-earth.

One year ago this month, two magnificent wooden sculptures were unveiled in Dents Garth Wood to commemorate that special moment, depicting the scene that changed literary history forever 👉

East Yorkshire is steeped in rich history, rolling countryside, and incredible landscapes—an enchanting backdrop that inspired one of the most beloved fantasy worlds in literature. J.R.R. Tolkien, the legendary author of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings, found much of his imagination....
