🔥 IMPORTANT FIRE BAN – THORRINGTON SCOUT CAMP 🔥

Following the national Emergency Alert regarding the current heightened wildfire risk, we have introduced a TOTAL FIRE BAN across Thorrington Scout Camp, effective immediately.

🚫 No fires, barbecues or open flames of any kind are permitted, including:

• Campfires
• Altar fires
• Fire pits
• BBQs
• Cooking fires
• Any other open flames

The UK Government is currently advising people not to light fires, use barbecues or have open flames in the countryside and other open spaces due to the increased wildfire risk.

Our Operations Team will continue to monitor the situation, Government guidance and local conditions.

The fire ban will remain in place until further notice.

Any changes will be communicated through our website and official social media channels.

Please ensure everyone in your group is aware of and follows this restriction.

Fire Ban Now in Effect

Due to the current heatwave, its longevity and data obtained from the Natural England Fire Severity Index.

Thorrington Scout Camp has now issued a ban on all open fires and disposable BBQs from Thursday 9th July, until further notice. This will be reassessed at weekly intervals and further updates given if required.

The site does not provide Altar fires. However if you have your own their use is permitted, but confined to specific areas, please contact your duty warden for further information

Whilst water fights are a great way to cool down in the heat please be aware that it can lead to cold water shock and the use of water balloons introduces micro plastics in to our environment and are not permitted at any time.

Our brand-new **Mini Axe Throwing** activity is now available at Thorrington Scout Camp!

Designed especially for Squirrels and Beavers, this fun leader-led activity uses safe plastic axes and target boards so young people can test their aim, build confidence, and enjoy plenty of friendly competition. With three targets running, there’s lots of opportunity for everyone to have a go and join in the challenge.

🚨 Big news from Thorrington Scout Camp! 🚨

We’re proud to officially open our newly refurbished Climbing & Abseiling Tower! 🧗‍♂️

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our volunteers, the tower has had a complete refresh - including brand new wooden boarding, updated climbing holds, and new equipment to make sessions safer, more exciting, and ready for adventure.

This project wouldn’t have been possible without the generous support of a £1500 grant from the Steven Eagell Group - thank you for helping us bring this vision to life!

Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself, build confidence, or just have a brilliant time outdoors, our sessions are now open to book.

Perfect for Scout groups, youth organisations, or anyone ready to try something new.
