Meet the gentle giants of Roatan.

Nurse sharks. Slow. Calm. Utterly fascinating. And yes — they are out there, resting on the sandy bottom, tucked into reef crevices, completely unbothered by the world around them.
Here are a few things that might surprise you about these beautiful creatures:

They can grow up to 2.5 meters long and weigh over 100 kg — yet they are one of the most peaceful sharks in the ocean. During the day they rest on the seafloor — sometimes in groups of up to 40 individuals piled together. Imagine that. They are nocturnal hunters — at night they use powerful suction to catch crustaceans, fish and octopuses hiding in the reef.
They are creatures of habit — returning to the exact same resting spot day after day. True homebodies.
Baby nurse sharks are born already fully formed — up to 30 pups at a time. Nature is wild.

And the best part? We can take you to see them.

We know this island. We know the reef. And we know where these incredible animals like to hang out. No guarantees — this is the wild ocean after all — but the chances? Pretty good.

Roatan sits along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef — the second largest coral reef system in the entire world. Over 1,000 species of fish. Sea turtles. Eagle rays. Reef sharks. Moray eels. Seahorses. And coral formations that have been growing here for thousands of years.
