June has arrived, and with it comes all the excitement, nerves, sunshine, concerts, festivals, and long evenings that make summer in Ireland feel truly special.

For our family this month, it’s a big one. Our second child is sitting the Leaving Cert, and if I’m being honest, Mom might possibly be more nervous than she is! The house has been full of revision notes, cups of tea, and plenty of encouragement. To all the students and parents going through exam season right now, we’re wishing you the very best of luck. Remember, there’s life beyond exams too, and summer is waiting on the other side.

June also brings a fantastic buzz to Limerick city and beyond, with an incredible line-up of concerts and events happening throughout the month. Thomond Park will welcome huge acts including Lewis Capaldi, Florence + The Machine, and Michael Bublé, bringing thousands of music lovers into the region and creating a wonderful atmosphere across the city and county.

Closer to home, there’s plenty happening around Bruff and the surrounding areas too. From guided walks and wildlife experiences to theatre nights, festivals, markets, and local community events, June is packed with reasons to get out, explore, and support local.

As always, thank you to everyone who continues to support small local businesses like ours. Every booking, recommendation, share, coffee stop, and kind word means the world to small family-run places.

Remember always book direct with us to avail of the best rates and discounts at www.theoldbank.ie

We’re delighted to be taking part in the Darkness Into Light walk in Bruff – been organised by the ladies of Bruff Credit union this Saturday morning, proudly supporting Pieta House.

Even more special for us is being involved behind the scenes, helping with some early morning setup to make sure everything is ready for such an important and meaningful event.

This walk is a powerful reminder that no one has to face darkness alone 💛

If you’re nearby, we’d love to see you there. Every step makes a difference and Qr codes availble on the morning to donate.

A very special visit this week ✨

We were delighted to welcome John and Jim, sons of Bartholomew Heffernan and Brian (Jims son), who shared wonderful stories of their father, the bank manager here in the 1940s. Hearing their memories brought a whole new layer of life , families, and the history to our home.

It’s moments like these that remind us how deeply connected this place is to the people who lived and worked here before us

One home — two different worlds.

We love our Main Street location, but we equally treasure our peaceful courtyard escape.

Our courtyard is a shared space with nature. Part of our lawn has become a natural habitat, left wild for over a year now, with no added wildflower seeds, just nature doing her thing.

The dandelions help feed our bees, as do our fruit trees, Dandelions remind me of Sunflowers... They close at night , shine bright yellow during the day while drawing up nutrients from lower levels.

We’re always discovering unexpected gifts , like ivy berries appearing, an important high-carbohydrate food source for birds (though poisonous to humans).

Sometimes, the wildest corners bring the most life to your garden.
