Twelve guests. The fort taken in full.

A family arrived this week with a guest list of twelve, and the gates closed behind them. The mandap went up under the arches. Marigolds went round every window. Rose petals on the water in the morning, candles around the pool by evening.

No other guests on the estate. No other celebration on the calendar. Their people, their rituals, and the hills.

Fifty is the most we will ever host for a wedding. Twelve was enough to fill it.
