After visiting the local markets of Chianti, where stalls sell whatever’s in season. Tomatoes, Italian cheeses, olive oil pressed down the road. Bring it all back to Villa Il Santo, and the kitchen becomes the heart of the villa. Someone’s chopping, someone’s uncorking a Chianti Classico, dinner built from what got bought that day.

That’s the rhythm here. Local produce, a kitchen big enough for everyone to help, a table that fills up slowly with the vineyards in view. Long lunches, dinners that run into sunset.

Villa Il Santo offers eight bedrooms across two beautifully restored buildings, The Tower and The Hay Barn, connected by a glass corridor, each room with its own character and en-suite bathroom.

The Montefioralle room is a master suite with a fireplace, seating area, dressing room, and a large ensuite with a freestanding bath and separate shower, while Panzano and Gaiole offer queen beds with ensuite shower bathrooms, and Castellina serves as a second master with a super-king bed, seating area, dressing room, and a bathroom with a freestanding bath, walk-in shower, and double sinks.

Some rooms open onto the gardens, two feature freestanding bathtubs, and all are fitted with Dyson hairdryers, Frette bathrobes, and Santa Maria Novella toiletries.

A self-contained studio suite by the pool offers a king bed, sofa, ensuite shower, and kitchenette, perfect for extra guests or round-the-clock staff.

At Villa Il Santo, ours is made for long, unhurried days, mornings spent at the local market choosing ripe tomatoes and fresh pasta, afternoons visiting nearby farms and artisan producers, evenings gathered around the table with something slow-cooked and deeply good.

Cook together with whatever the day brought home. Call in a private chef and let someone else do the work. Or take a lesson with a local cook and learn how Italians have been doing it for generations.
However you choose to eat, the kitchen is where it all comes back to.
