Azienda Agricola e Agriturismo Il Palagio di Panzano

Azienda Agricola e Agriturismo Il Palagio di Panzano A bespoke Tuscan estate for intimate, restorative stays. Organic Chianti wines and locally grown seasonal produce. Monday-Saturday Tastings.

The winery estate Il Palagio di Panzano is located in the heart of Tuscany - more precisely, in the zone of Chianti called Chianti Classico, in the well-known Conca D'oro ("golden valley"), an area famous throughout the world for its beautiful landscape, and in particular for its wonderful wine and olive oil. The estate has a total of around 13 hectares of land, of which three and a half hectares

are planted with olive trees and the rest with selected grape vines. In recent years the oldest vines have been replanted with an eye to always making the best possible wine in future. Here Franco and Monia carefully manage their vineayrds and their villa welcoming guests from all over the world.

Wellness. What does this word truly mean?

Women of the past shared a secret: they knew how to listen to their bodies. It was an extraordinary, intuitive connection born from necessity and a deep bond with the earth and nature’s rhythms. They practiced self-care through slow, simple rituals—botanical foot baths, homemade salves, and pure essential oils distilled from garden flowers. Here at Il Palagio, we have revived this ancient wisdom. Together with expert artisans, we craft essential oils. These pure essences breathe nature, intertwining beautifully with our cuisine, and—if we truly listen—can even be discovered within a glass of our artisanal wine.

True well-being is a deep reconnection between body, mind, food, and the earth. Nature shows us the perfect moments to pause:
- APRIL, the season of rebirth. As spring awakens, the air turns crisp, and the body seeks to regenerate, detox, and embrace new vibrant energy.
- AUGUST, the ultimate time to unplug. As peak summer matures and evenings warm up, the body naturally asks to slow down, embracing the silence and freshness of the Tuscan countryside.
- NOVEMBER, the moment your body truly needs to stop. Days grow shorter, and nature transitions into warm, cozy hues. It is the time for self-care, holistic massages, woodland walks, nourishing farm-to-table food, and a glass of natural wine that respects the land.

We open the doors of our villa entirely for you and your loved ones. Whether it is a wellness retreat with lifelong friends, a corporate executive wellness escape, or an intimate family reunion. Your days will be tailored with holistic treatments, organic food, nature immersions, and authentic wine tastings where the wine tells its purest story.

June is here, and with it, a sweet nostalgia that smells of summer.

Lately, my thoughts travel back to my grandmother, Nonna Aldemara. I can still see her working in the vegetable garden, among the roses, and out in the vineyard. Not even the first hot June sun could keep her away from her beloved plants. Her fatigue was real, etched into her hands, but her love for this land was stronger than anything. She taught me how to breathe in the seasons.

As summer approaches, it brings the promise of long, breezy evenings, laughter around the table, and unforgettable memories. Moments where wine is a must, the ultimate companion to the simple, authentic food that Tuscany generously offers at every turn.

As a proud Chiantigiana DOC (a Chianti local through and through), this is exactly what I want our guests to seek, discover, and share.

Today, the world is obsessed with buzzwords like “luxury”, “boutique”, or “extraordinary”. But true luxury doesn’t live in those words. True luxury is knowing how to enjoy life in its absolute simplicity.

It’s a slice of crusty Tuscan bread with a fresh, field-ripened tomato, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, and a pinch of salt. It’s a glass of that Sangiovese wine that, with one single sip, transports you right into the heart of the vineyards, making you forget everything you don’t actually need.

This is what it means to live a real experience. This is the ultimate travel journey: connecting with the profound soul of a place. Leaving the superfluous behind and holding onto pure beauty.

Aldemara, my father’s mother, was the essence of quiet hard work and a true example of resilience and strength for me. She was a petite woman, her body shaped by a lifetime of labor among the vine rows and in the cellar. Her muscles were defined, her hands accustomed to the soil, and her gaze attentive, profound, and always present.
Those who knew Aldemara remember a petite figure driven by unwavering energy. She was not a woman of grand speeches or a stage persona; her presence was felt in the millimetric precision of every gesture, and in the tireless care she dedicated to her perfect garden—a corner of order and beauty stolen from the wild nature. Her hands spoke the language of the earth: a language of calluses, of respect for the seasons, and of absolute dedication to the vine.
Yet those same hands, marked by hard work, concealed a rare grace: they knew how to embroider with millimetric precision, sew fabrics, and cook simple, honest dishes—exactly like her. Our Aldemara Rosato is her faithful portrait in liquid form. Just like her, it is a wine that does not try to show off at all costs. It does not pander to the consumer with artificial softness or comforting aromas. Instead, it strikes you with a beautifully firm, nervous, and vibrant structure. It is a pure Sangiovese . It dresses itself in a delicate pale pink hue, revealing a deep, fresh, and authentic femininity.

Franco is a man whom few truly know, as he often shies away from the world’s gaze. As with all artists, understanding his mind is difficult; yet his extraordinary sensitivity, which frightens many, is his greatest strength. Franco grew up alongside his grandfather Dino and grandmother Pierina, silently observing their profound love for life and cooking. Both shared deep ties to Palagio di Panzano. Dino was born there under the sharecropping system, inspiring his grandson Franco with childhood stories. Years later, destiny led Franco back to cultivate those very same vineyards.

Before wine, Franco consecrated his life to woodworking and creating unique pieces. Raised in a bottega as an apprentice, he embodies the spirit of an era when Chianti and Florentine lands were populated by master craftsmen. From his father Roberto, he learned a noble trade: furniture restoration. These were furnishings capable of telling ancient stories, from noble palaces to simple peasant homes; a craft built on respect, wisdom, and precision. Unfortunately, the market later allowed mass-produced, identical furniture to fill our homes. Fortunately, Franco preserved his skills, applying them every day to both winemaking and the restoration of our villa.

Walking with him through antique markets to find the right precious piece of furniture is an extraordinary experience. Just when you think you found a valuable piece, he corrects you: “No, this is completely remade, it is not original.” Our hope is that Italy returns to valuing its artists and ancient trades. Safeguarding the territory relies not only on respectful agriculture, but also on skilled craftsmen capable of restoring the authentic value of objects and farmhouses.

Waking up in a 13th-century Tuscan villa, feeling like Rapunzel in her high tower. Opening the window to an endless sea of green that breathes life back into my soul.

No fuss, no services—just me, my heart, and an inner smile. Walking down ancient stone steps to find heaven on earth, grounded and open. Finally touching the pages of that book I’ve been longing to read, far from the digital world.

The scent of a Moka Bialetti drifting from the kitchen... reclaiming time to truly listen and be with my people. This is the ultimate luxury: freedom.

30 years of us, but a story with roots that reach much further back.

It all began in 1965, when my grandfather, Dario Piccini, purchased Il Palagio. His dream was simple yet powerful: to have his own land to grow “a bit of everything” – vegetables, fruit, olive trees, and vines. He wanted a place to raise animals and provide for his family. He had the intuition and the heart to choose this breathtaking ridge overlooking the Conca d’Oro, a corner of paradise I learned to love as a little girl.
I grew up here, surrounded by my grandparents’ stories, learning to respect the rhythms of nature and the value of memory. Incredible as it may seem, this very place was the birthplace of Dino Bindi, the grandfather of my husband, Franco Guarducci. While I was growing up on these lands, he was listening to his own grandfather’s stories of when, as a boy, he worked the soil of Il Palagio with his family. These were the secrets of the same earth that destiny would one day lead Franco to work right by my side.
But to carry a dream forward, you also need practical vision, and that is where my “babbo” (dad) came in. Being a building contractor, he had the skill to restore Il Palagio while deeply respecting the stone architecture and the identity of the territory. With immense love and dedication, he renovated the house and, piece by piece, acquired new land to expand production and build our cellar: a space that is not a “museum,” but practical and functional. While my grandfather had started bottling the first Chianti Classico, my father – though focused on his main business – produced grapes for bulk wine, reinvesting every sacrifice and every cent to grow the company and allow me to carry this dream forward. Those were different times and perspectives, but hard work spoke the same universal language.
