Azienda Agricola e Agriturismo Il Palagio di Panzano

Azienda Agricola e Agriturismo Il Palagio di Panzano A bespoke Tuscan estate for intimate, restorative stays. Organic Chianti wines and locally grown seasonal produce. Monday-Saturday Tastings.

The winery estate Il Palagio di Panzano is located in the heart of Tuscany - more precisely, in the zone of Chianti called Chianti Classico, in the well-known Conca D'oro ("golden valley"), an area famous throughout the world for its beautiful landscape, and in particular for its wonderful wine and olive oil. The estate has a total of around 13 hectares of land, of which three and a half hectares

are planted with olive trees and the rest with selected grape vines. In recent years the oldest vines have been replanted with an eye to always making the best possible wine in future. Here Franco and Monia carefully manage their vineayrds and their villa welcoming guests from all over the world.

Our vegetable garden started almost as a joke years ago. At first, we built it entirely with salvaged materials. Then, we saw the first results and got a taste for it: we expanded it, trying to make it more productive.
There is an old saying, “the vegetable garden wants the man dead.” It’s true: after working in the fields, we were exhausted, but the satisfaction was so great that this year we tripled its size.
Our products are beautiful in their imperfection.
We are not looking for a flawless shape to be “instagrammable,” but for that authentic goodness that invites you to rejoice in these little treasures. We want to return to the earth’s simplicity and unpredictability, breaking away from this continuous rush towards the perfect at all costs.
Anyone who visits us at Palagio di Panzano must take us exactly as we are. You will find Tuscan rural life here in Chianti for what it is: true, simple, and made of conviviality, friendship, and traditions.
There is Valentino, our chef, who creates unique dishes with the treasures of this private garden; there is Irene, who will guide you through our organic wine tastings; and then there’s us, Monia and Franco, ready to welcome you with a heartfelt “Ciao!” within our ancient walls in Panzano in Chianti, dating back to the Lombard era.Even the laurel from the garden follows this philosophy: it brings its properties into our homemade bread dough, fresh pasta sauces, and slowly simmered stews.
For seasoning, we use only our organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVO)—for us, there is simply no substitute. We live by the honest rhythms of the earth. If you wish to share this genuine Tuscan experience with us for your next vacation, you can find all the booking options on our website.

Looking for the best place to visit in Tuscany this autumn? If you’re dreaming of authentic villages, vineyards, food, wine and slow travel, Panzano in Chianti might be exactly what you’re looking for.

Summer still has many beautiful days ahead. But every year, around this time, I find myself thinking about the season that follows. Because autumn has a way of making me fall in love with Tuscany all over again.
We’re used to thinking of the seaside in summer, the mountains in winter and the countryside in spring.
But what about autumn?

If I had to choose a place to slow down and reconnect with beauty, I’d choose Tuscany. And I’d choose Panzano in Chianti. Not because it’s perfect, but because it still feels like a real village, far from souvenir shops and crowded tourist streets.
Whenever I tell people that one of our family’s most memorable holidays was in Scotland in December, they’re always surprised. We often associate travel with long summer days and warm sunshine, but some of the most unforgettable journeys happen in completely different seasons. They invite us to slow down, notice more and experience a place more deeply.

Autumn has a light that turns every landscape into a painting. It’s the perfect season for walking, cycling, horse riding, Vespa tours, local food, Chianti wines and breathtaking sunsets.
It’s also the season of the olive harvest, when fresh extra virgin olive oil becomes the heart of Tuscan cuisine.
Perhaps autumn reminds us that the best journeys aren’t about the weather, but about how a place makes us feel.

If you’re thinking about travelling between October and December, now is the perfect time to start planning your autumn escape in Tuscany, discovering Panzano in Chianti, the Chianti wine region, authentic food, wine and slow travel.

There are places that cannot be imitated.

Ours is Il Palagio di Panzano, born from vineyards located on a ridge in the highest part of the Conca d’Oro of Panzano in Chianti. A unique place, where the position, altitude, exposure, and natural ventilation contribute to giving Sangiovese depth, elegance, and a natural freshness.

Here, Sangiovese finds its most authentic expression. The different parcels of our vineyards are carefully observed and interpreted individually, because every corner of our land carries its own identity. From our vineyards comes a Chianti Classico that tells the story of Panzano: its energy, its elegance, its depth, and that natural freshness that belongs to wines born in the high hills.

We do not pursue a style built around preconceived ideas. Our work comes from the desire to preserve the voice of the place through Sangiovese, with a vision faithful to the tradition of Chianti Classico and attentive to the richness of each individual vineyard.

Our Chianti Classico is the result of careful viticulture, artisanal production, and a family that works every day with the same idea: to let the land speak, without unnecessary additions.

Because the character of a wine is not created.
It is revealed, vintage after vintage.

Who is Il Palagio di Panzano for?

There are places that choose their guests.
And perhaps, without even realizing it, guests choose the places that reflect the way they love to travel.

Il Palagio di Panzano is for those looking for an authentic Tuscany, in the heart of Chianti, between Florence and Siena.
A Tuscany of ancient stones, vineyards changing with the seasons, olive trees, silence and long tables where time slows down.
A Tuscany that has always shown the world that elegance and refinement can exist naturally alongside rustic simplicity.

We have never followed trends or transformed this farmhouse into something it was never meant to be. Instead, we chose to preserve its soul, its history, its antique furniture and the true character of this place.

Il Palagio is chosen by families who wish to be together while enjoying their own privacy, by friends gathering around a table at sunset, by couples seeking the slower rhythm of the countryside, and by travellers who love wine, food, art, craftsmanship and authentic experiences.

Throughout the year we welcome intimate celebrations, small weddings and retreats dedicated to yoga, pilates, painting, wine, cooking and antiques.

Whenever time allows, Franco still returns to his workshop to restore antique furniture and share his passion with guests who love history, craftsmanship and the hidden beauty of Tuscany.

Il Palagio is not a stage set.
It is a home that has never stopped living.
A place where Tuscany remains elegant, refined and beautifully rustic, just as it has always been.

The Tuscany we inherited.
The Tuscany we live every day.
The Tuscany we are proud to share.

Behind every product at Il Palagio di Panzano lies a simple, true story. Today, Franco and I want to share the story of our Resident Chef, Valentino Masi.

Vale started young, following his grandmother’s shadow in the kitchen. By 16, he was working in a historic restaurant, learning rhythm, organization, and precision. His passion for the land, the garden, olive trees, and wine always drove him to learn more.
His journey is built on hard work: he managed his restaurant in Florence, worked with talented chefs, and always lived in the world of wine. For him, food and wine belong together—one cannot exist without the other.

After working with us as a private chef since 2003, life brought us together in 2023: today, Vale is exclusively here. His day starts in the garden, harvesting what nature offers before bringing it to the kitchen. Our garden is simple, but Mother Nature works her magic, giving us unique flavours.

Vale is a big man with a big heart. His honest cooking brings smiles to everyone, including us. Franco and I have our own family, but we want this place to be an extension of our home, sharing the sincere warmth we had with our grandparents. Without our amazing team, Franco and I couldn’t move forward. We want a workplace with no rivalry, only constructive growth. In this, Vale is extraordinary: he always brings serenity and inspires us to do better. It feels natural to sit at the same table for lunch, sharing our day like a real family—whether it’s a heated discussion or a good laugh.

We’re not chasing awards. We just want to move forward, proud of our work and supporting all our families.

Ignobile: Tradition, daily conviviality, and a touch of boldness.

Once upon a time, wine was a constant presence at the table. It was the simple, sincere companion to family meals—an everyday ritual we want to bring back. This philosophy inspired Ignobile, our 100% Sangiovese IGT Toscana Rosso.

Don’t let the name fool you! The name of our red wine encapsulates its entire history. It’s a clever wordplay: it reads as a “Noble IGT,” but with a “NO” highlighted in red to signal a definitive choice. We did not consider these selected grapes “noble” enough for our Chianti Classico Annata, dedicating them instead to a wine meant for everyone’s daily table.

Yet, while crafted for everyday enjoyment, it has plenty of character, structure, and elegance to spare. It easily holds its own when compared to many other red wines, reminding us of the beauty in simplicity.

All that is left for us to do is invite you to try it! What seasonal dish would you pair it with?
