🌿 In Nervi, a hillside among olive trees, old farmhouses and the sea is coming back to life.
There is a side of Liguria made not only of sea and colourful villages, but also of terraced hillsides, dry-stone walls, centuries-old olive trees and ancient farmhouses.
This is the story of La Collina di San Rocco, on the hills above Nervi, where the Marsano family is restoring a property of more than one hectare that had been abandoned for many years.
More than 300 olive trees, an orchard, old rural buildings and a family history dating back to the 19th century. The restoration has focused on preserving what was already there, using natural materials and bio-building techniques, and giving new life to an old cistern for collecting rainwater.
But above all, this is a story about an idea of hospitality that goes beyond simply providing a place to stay: sharing the landscape, preserving its memory and creating a deeper connection between guests and the place they visit.
We interviewed the Marsano family to discover the story of the hill, their relationship with the olive trees, the restoration of the traditional dry-stone walls and their dream of creating a sensory trail from the sea of Nervi up to the little church of San Rocco.
